Addiction in family

Im starting to go to parties with booze and im starting to drink.My family has had many alcoholics like my grate grandfatherS, my grandfather,uncleS and even my 16 yo cousin. My parents are very worried I will get addicted. Can being an alcoholic be genetically passed down?

There can be a Genetic disposition to being an addict. But no guarantee that you will be one.

I think it can run in your family because me and all my friends who probably could be classified as alcoholics all have parents that drink alot but idk if it has any thing to do with genes its probably because we were raised in that lifestyle and it just seems normal to us.
