Mine have always been big, they hang down about 5 or 6 inches and they are still big even when I have erections. I freeball when I run to excercise and they do bounce around, but never do hurt. YOu are right by saying that they will sometimes be lower. When it is hot, they are lower, but also when you have a cold etc as your bodies core temp is higher.

Balls have to be maintained at 35.5C and your core is 37, thus why they hang low.
