Do you approve or disapprove of the way President Obama is doing his job of leading the American government?
You can answer the poll above. I added separate options for US Citizens and non citizens to see the spread of the data. You can also post below how you voted and why.
If your curious, the latest national poll numbers for Obama show his national approval rating among Americans dip to about 45%. His disapproval rating is up, almost at 50%. This is in the wake of the NSA leaks, the IRS scandal, the AP / Fox scandal, and the Benghazi scandal. The President has attempted to distance himself from all of these, but has failed, and the American people don't like it.

I'm a good judge of character, and I've always kind of seen through Obama's hype. This latest stuff about spying on Americans and everything else just makes me disapprove of him more. Honestly I don't think Romney would have done much better.

Wow. I accidentally voted "I approve." I don't. So disregard the one "I approve (US citizen)" response haha. So far, 100% of the VT community disapproves!

Why not? His resume is certainly more impressive. He's a very successful businessman and then went on to tremendously boost Massachusetts economy as governor in a bipartisan way. All Obama was is a lawyer and career politician; those people in general seem to make the worst leaders.

I'll agree with his resume, but If I recall, Romney flip flopped on a lot of issues. If he can't maintain his policies, without providing a reason for changing his mind, it seems he is just trying to say anything to get votes.

A successful businessman by exporting American jobs overseas? Here in Chicago, Obama advocated for better living conditions in government public housing that were filled with asbestos and other toxic waste. I dont agree with a lot of things he's doing as president, but here in Chicago he did a lot of good for the poor and those in public housing.
Things I support Obama on:
Starting to withdraw out of Afghanistan
Getting out of the useless war in Iraq
Bailing out the auto industry
Attempting to close Gitmo, but we can thank your Republican friends over in Congress for shooting that down.
More domestic/ North America energy
Things I dont support Obama on:
US drone strikes in Pakistan,Yemen
Supporting & funding(30 billion dollars OF OUR TAX DOLLARS annually) the genocidal campaigns of Israel.
NSA Surveillance
IRS Scandal
I'd say Benghazi, but if NATO wouldnt have went in and bombed Libya, the attack wouldnt have happened.
I cant really say anything about the economy considering the piece of shit he was handed when he got in, I hate how Republicans think the economy can be fixed overnight. It's gonna take 10-15 years...
So for now, Im undecided since im 50/50 on a lot of the issues he's dealing with.

The whole libya argument relies on to many what ifs, if NATO hadn't gone in then you would have Presidents and officials writing in there autobiographies that they regret not stopping the massacre of civilians.
Israel is not committing Genocide, if you don't believe me feel free to go to the Hague and try and raise the case.
If Obama followed your viewpoint then Mccain would of been elected in '08, it's been foreign policy which kept Obama in

Why are Palestinians being denied access to drinking water? Why have thousands of innocent people in Gaza been killed by constant Israeli rocket and airstrikes? What about civilian infrastructure such as Gaza's only airport or the soccer stadium being bombed? What about those who dont have access to healthcare? That's right?
Libya was better before the 2011 civil war, if Ghaddafi was still in power the attack wouldnt have happened. Now, you have a government that barely has control over it's territory, and you have tribal groups and milita groups who are establishing semi-automous states. Im not supporting Ghaddafi on the count he killed civilians, no doubt he did, he was a tyrant but atleast he kept Al-Qaeda radicals and Islamic radicals locked in jails.
Like I've told you about 3 million times, I rather have a country with a iron griped dictator than a country that barely has any strong government or security forces. Just like Iraq, people are getting blown up from carbombs and shot in firefights DAILY in Iraq, you think that shit would be happening if Saddam was in power?

Romney created a hundred times more American jobs then were sent overseas. That's not a valid point.
And why the hell do you support bailing out GM and Chrysler? That's called crony capitalism, and it's wrong. GM and Chrysler make inferior products. They desearved to go bankrupt. And how is it fair to Ford, who actually made decent cars??
And curious, are the public housing conditions in Chicago much better now?

It's funny how you raise unemployment and say how Romney created jobs yet you then criticize Obama for saving jobs with the bailouts. So what do you want, more or less jobs?

Romney didn't raise unemployment. It went down steadily from when he took office as Governor. And he turned the state from dead last in economic growth to 27th. And he did it all while working with Democratic majorities in that state legislature. That's pretty impressive.

So you supported THOUSANDS of working class Americans to lose their jobs and benefits? That's exactly why Romney lost Ohio & Michigan(His home state), because he didnt support the auto bailout which supports a lot of jobs in those states. I just think Romney lost because he didnt appeal to the average working class American, he had some good ideas, but majority of them were junk.
Chicago public housing? Well 80% of them are tore down now, and most of the residents have moved into the suburbs due to section 8 vouchers. So now you have a lot of the once proud blue collar suburbs(majority white) experiencing high crime rates, shootings, that kind of thing.
It's funny because the same neighborhoods where these public housing complexes use to be are now vibrant neighborhoods and you'll see plenty of cafes and condos, people jogging their dogs, children at playgroups.
Anyways, I cant really say they've improved because the really bad ones are now tore down and condos and cafes have taken their place. The few that remain are OK, better than they were before due to increased policing and federal raids, that kind of thing.
If you wanna learn a bit more about them, i'd watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PjKp4VWy1RY Pretty interesting history about the failed government housing program if you ask me.

You still fail to answer my question, if Ghaddafi was in power would the Benghazi attack happened? You must be really satisfied with Al-Qaeda milita roaming around the deserts in Toyota trucks with mounted 50 cals...
I support Ghaddafi on this note only, he kept radicals and Al-Qaeda locked in prison cells for years. Now, thousands of them are roaming free about the Middle-East, some of them are fighting in Syria right now.

Okay, you support Gaddafi's iron fist.
So say when the people started rising up demanding democracy do you think we should of supported Gaddafi to prevent the spread od these Al-Qaeda Militias? That's what I don't understand, your theory relies on the west removing Gaddafi on his own where in fact it was the people who did that.

While I'm not a supporter of Obama, I'll say that his policy on terror has been positive and had many victories. I think his domestic policy has been tragic. Taxes, the debt ceiling, NSA, IRS, his lack of attention to creating jobs, his domestic energy policy all have been failures in my opinion.
But what I find very interesting is that so many people hated Bush, but a lot of Obama's policies are actually continuations of Bush's. The bailout of banks and the auto industry, the troop build up in Afghanistan, he never closed Gitmo, drone strikes, the NSA (Patriot Act), and the general over spending on everything and terribly unbalanced budgets. These are all Bush policies the many liberals hated, that they either applaud or at least aren't bothered by Obama continuing. I think they're all bad (minus the drone strikes) no matter who did them.

I'd say there's a difference in creating new jobs and saving existing jobs. The net number of people working today is still less than when Obama took office. He may have saved jobs but the overall number of employed is less than when he started.
Also, the auto bailout was initiated by Bush. And it wasn't a good thing by either of them to do.

I support the free market. And I also hate GM cars because they weren't good products, it seems silly to help out the executives running such inferior compainies! All of those jobs are going to be away from that region soon anyways, there was no reason to bail them out. It was unethical and a waste.
And so then I guess, regardless of what Obama said, his support for better public housing didn't work. Like I said, terrible résumé.
It's double standards because your praising Mitt Romney for creating Jobs for the American people when he was Governor yet when Obama saved 1.5 Million jobs
Because those jobs Obama created are unsustainable easily outsourced manufacturing jobs and they build a terrible product.

So you think the people could have overthrown Ghaddafi without Western help? Fuck no, those guys were on the edge of defeat until we came in. If we went into Syria right now, I bet by late August the Assad regime would even exsist.
As always with you, I have to clarify and make my points
1. As you know, I prefer a iron fist dictator over a wild country with no true government or security forces
2. The people who did the Benghazi attacks were Islamic radicals, no doubt on that. When Ghaddafi was in office, all Islamic radicals and Al-Qaeda affliates were kept locked in jail cells. The rebels(a lot of them were affliated with Islamic radicalist) went in and freed these people. These guys who did it are probably the same guys who were in jail cells during the Ghaddafi regime.Bottom line, it wouldnt have happened if he was in power,no denying that.
I dont know if we supported Ghaddafi or not, I just know in 2006 he was removed from the state terrorism list so I guess that might mean something. You keep bringing up all these night club bombings and airplane bombings, Ghaddafi gave a total of 1.5 Billion to these victims families. Of course that's not gonna bring them back but still, most "tyrants" wouldnt do that.
