So I was scrolling through Instagram yesterday when I noticed a post from Andre "Wolf" Critchlow where he had recently played a role in a short film. I didn't expect this, however.
For those who want to watch the video this thread is about...

For those too lazy to watch the video...
What would it take to unite the entire world? It's a famous question that Ronald Reagan posed in the midst of the Cold War.
It is 2018 and Earth is under attack. Nuclear weapons devastate several developing countries. Weaker governments look to the United States to take on the world's military leadership. Soon even Russia and other powers consider joining the alliance. In humanity's darkest moments, the dream of a united world seems to be finally coming true.
But throughout human history, man has often been his worst enemy. And history likes to repeat itself.
The video follow Wolf and his team of US Special Force operatives as they head to the crash site of one of many unidentified flying objects which have been mysteriously unleashing nuclear weapons on large cities in South America. However, as the team arrives at the crash site they find the pilot of the aircraft is not only human but bearing a US Flag on his uniform and proceed to tell command that the coordinates were incorrect for the crash site.
Speculation; In modern day, how likely do you believe such an event of depopulation or global deceit really is?

Ridiculously unlikely.

I saw an old conspiracy NWO documentary from the 90's that said the US governement was making plans to fake an alien invasion in order to establish a NWO. It was made before the movie Independence Day for those of you that might make the connection.
For someone who is impressionable, I could see that such a video would be convincing. They made very interesting points, but I can't really believe such a complicated thing would ever be possible.
It makes for a good movie though.

I find it funny that the US is almost always the hero of every alien invasion/world crisis type of movie

yeah I admit ive noticed that, but you cant blame the americans for making a movie making america look good, if an alien invasion I think every country would put assid their differences and work together, similar to how the Russians and Brits worked together in world war two

Yeah. But it would probably be led by a council or the most powerful leaders, like in WWII, where the Allies' were led by Stalin, Roosvelt (later Truman), and Churchill.

if a world republic was formed (which I highly doubt), it wouldn't matter where the people came from

I think you missed the part at the end. It's not about making the US look good, it's actually showing a US conspiracy.
An "alien" threat has released nuclear weapons on South America and one of these craft have crash landed in the US. An American Special Forces team was deployed to secure the crash site; however, upon arrival they discover the pilot is not "alien," but rather their fellow American. The idea that even the soldiers are deceived is confirmed at the end when the team leader reports that the crash site coordinates were incorrect.
If anything it makes America look bad, in my opinion.

But I do agree. There is no way one nation would become a world leader in an event like this. Personally I see the UN gaining most world power.

It makes them look bad. But I find one thing puzzling, it is 2018. A piloted craft is a lot easier to discover as a fraud, why not use an UAV, just put some biological sludge in it and say it's an alien. The wider masses would find it more convincing, especially since they will not exactly know what it is. The world would probably be lead by a council of all countries which would fall apart after the aliens are pushed back. We would revert to our petty squabbles as if nothing happened.
