I use Norton Anit-Virus.
It's pulled me out of jams a few times. It's been able to detect trojans and autmatically kick them.

Norton is one of the worst excuses for an Anti-Virus currently in existence. It uses too many resources, runs slow, slows your system down, misses viruses left and right, and just plain breaks your system.
Anyone who pays for this "Service" to basically "infect" your machine is only contributing toward their own computer's demise. If you haven't had issues with it, You're lucky. But, more likely is that you just think you haven't had any issues, but actually have (such as it missing viruses), or it's false sense of security against viruses and spyware. It also constantly uses a HUGE chunk of your RAM, and processor. I've also noticed parts of the program crashing a lot.
My dad has it on his machine. I don't know why. He pays, I think 35$ or whatever it is for a subscription fee like every 6 months. His machine runs only about a fifth of the speed it ran at before he installed it, and it's had a lot of problems that it's missed, and I've had to use another program to remove the problems.
Someone who paid me to work on their machine because it was painfully slow, and had problems had Norton on their machine. I managed to fix most of the problems, but Norton was holding me up, because it was still BSODing (From Norton), and running slow. It was a brand new machine, less than a month old. Acer got them by screwing them over and only including 256MB of RAM. They paid extra to have it increased to 512, but that's still not enough for Vista and Norton. I recommended to them that I remove Norton and install Avast. They agreed, and I removed it. Machine now runs better than ever, with no problems. That Athlon 64 3500+ was running like a bogged down P3 with XP. As soon as Norton was gone, it did a 360.
Anyone I've seen with Norton, I've recommended they ditch it, and install something better, like Avast, or AVG. Neither of them even cost money. I prefer Avast, it's worked wonders. Costs me nothing, and doesn't slow down my system. And, it does a good job of detecting and removing viruses.
I usually couple Avast with the Trend Micro online Anti-Virus scanner (Which is Free, I only use it occasionally just as a backup to make sure things weren't missed), then for spyware, I use a combination of Spybot, Ad-Aware, MalwareBytes AntiMalware (Just came out, works nicely), Windows Defender, SmitFraudFix and Spyware Blaster, among others.
Those, and common sense will prevent 99.9% of all Virus/Spyware infections. I can go ages without any type of Virus or Spyware protection without any problems. Just pay attention to what you're doing, and what programs you're executing.
