I missed two periods in a row (I'm a virgin jsyk) and when I got it this month it lasted two days, and those days and three or four weeks prior, I had extreme period symptoms, cravings, extreme irritability, cramps, crying constantly, but no bleeding until those two days. So to fix this, I was put on birth control, prescribed yesterday.

My doctor told me I had a choice: get the pills prescribed that day and take them asap. This would make me feel better emotionally, but I could have break through bleeding, spotting or even constant bleeding for the next three weeks until my next period is due (the reason confuses me and I don't understand, but whatever)
OR
Wait three weeks until my next period is due to take it, but feel like shit, cry for no reason, eat my feelings and yelling at my boyfriend for nothing until then.

I decided to make the madness end and take the pill now, today. So I did. Should I immediately start wearing pads? I know wearing tampons when you don't have your period is unhealthy, and they're $5 a box so I don't want to waste any if it gets heavy. I know I should have asked my doctor this but I forgot, there were a lot of questions..

I personally wouldn't wear pads just in case. I see why you're considering that as you'd rather be safe than sorry. What about simply carrying tampons or pads with you so you can use it when necessary?

Well, I get super grossed out when I mess my underwear from getting my period (since its irregular every month, I don't know when it's coming so I always get blood on my panties) and it usually comes at night while I'm sleeping or right when I wake up. I'm also naturally moist down there, more so than any of my friends so I can't tell the difference between being wet (not wet like turned on but like discharge) and getting my period until it gets on my inner thigh, and by that time it's already stained my underwear, so I just wanna know if it would be better wearing a pad just in case, seeing as my circumstances are a touch of bad luck..

You can call the pharmacist and ask them the questions you have and they should be able to answer many of them. Even calling your doctor's office and speaking to a nurse or leaving a message can work. If you're sexually active and don't want to use condoms too-- I'd also ask how long it'll take for the pill to be regulated in your body to not have to rely on condoms. If you ask this -- state your last period and date prescribed.

Thanks for the reply and I AGREE with you now.

The patient information leaflet I read a few hours after I posted the OP answered most questions. Like what to do if I miss a day, when to start and how long to wait before I could stop relying on condoms. It said 7 days but I don't trust it. Plus since I'm 17, and my boyfriend is 21, we won't be having sex for six months or so..we have zero privacy and are never truly alone, and my mom would most definitely kick me out if she knew I had sex before 18 for any reason. And I can't stay with him cos he's living with his mom until the next semester ends, and she hates everyone, me especially ._. But I digress~
