A Washington teenager committed suicide Sunday after a local sheriff's department published a sarcastic Facebook post about him, according to multiple reports.

The Latah County Sheriff's Office in Idaho had posted a photo of*19-year-old Pullman, Wash., resident Andrew Cain*alongside a message saying, “We have decided that Andrew Cain is no longer the Wanted Person of the Week… he is the Wanted Person of the Month of June. Congratulations!,"*according to local CBS affiliate KREM-TV.

A few days later, Cain took his own life.

This is infuriating and completely disheartening. The fact that bullying has become so rampant, especially with so much social-networking these days, is so sad. The audacity of those, most likely, middle-aged men to think it's okay to play with someone else's life because they sit behind a desk with a badge is sickening. I feel no pity whatsoever for them, nor do I care to hear "people make mistakes". That was a blatant, ill-intended personal attack on a nineteen year old.

A police officer can't treat people any way he or she likes just because they have a badge. As a law enforcement professional, they have an obligation to be more upstanding than the average person.

I thought this story was sickening. Rest in peace, Andrew Cain.

God dammit. Police officers are supposed to be role models. Now what are they? This is disgusting. I really hope there's more to this story, because I don't want to jump to conclusions about the police force. But alas, right now, I can't help but shake my head in disbelief.

Rest in piece, Andrew Cain.

That is... HORIRIBLE. I don't even know how to respond properly. I hate it when people with authority or people that are susposed to be ROLE MODELS for gods sake do something like that....
angry.....

Honestly, if "grown" adults bully teenagers then what hope is there for teens like us to stop bullying and harassment? Those policemen are nothing but lowly bottom feeders. Sure, they help keep some type of control over their district/town/whatever but it is disgusting to think that they freely harass others just to try and get something they want.

If that was the reason for his suicide then thats a total over reaction. But I don't think it is, if he was depressed then the police aren't to blame, they were trying to get him to turn himself in, because he was a criminal, and tried to be lighthearted about it.
No pity.

Maybe it was an overreaction, but a life was lost over it. I think there were much more professional ways of handling the situation than this. And not only that, but they were said to be private messaging him on Facebook harassing him. No, they aren't to blame for his death, as he was struggling with depression, but none of what they did is justifiable in any way. Why are things of this nature, concerning criminals, being published over Facebook? Maybe, were they not playing on Facebook, they could have captured him and he'd still be alive today. It isn't excusable.

Shaking head those damn police think they can treat us like shit
They shoulda known he was gonna do somethin like that if he saw it
I personally think the police only focus on 'the most important case' which is very wrong in my opinion

That is just awful. Though, not to sound horrible or anything, but if that's the reason for his suicide, it was a bit of an overreaction....:/

That isn't the reason. They can't be blamed for his death; but that doesn't mean what they did was right. He had been dealing with depression, so that was the main factor.

I feel like there is more to it then just this... When I read that facebook post, I just feel like...
Its not the only mean thing they said to him.
Like, I think it must have been something like he commited a very light crime, or no crime at all, and they were bored or something and decided to arrest him, and then mocked him over it, and even posted about it on facebook, so everyone gets to see

My heart sank reading this, I can't imagine what Cain felt as he read that post. If adults subject other people to such negative thoughts and actions (bullying) how are we teens suppose to stop it?
