Technically they can be reversed...they can be. Although this isn't done often and generally all bans are left permanent. Its dealt with a case by case basis and generally we don't allow people who've broken the rules to come back especially if the person has broken the rules on multiple occasions or a very serious rule.

you will get warned, then infractions then I think you get frozen then if you continue banned

You'll get PM reminders -- those aren't official warnings and are just friendly reminders so that you avoid repeating rule breaking's. If you did continue you'll get official warnings/infractions and then either due to continuous rule breaking's or due to an infraction point build up you'll be banned.

People can appeal bans via the ban appeal email address.

If you recognize what you did wrong and you do not continue to do it, then there will not be a problem.

To the OP: Bans are almost always permanent. If you have a question regarding a specific member's ban you can PM me, or any senior staff member, but it's likely we won't be able to give you any specific details.

Derri's name is green only in sections he moderates (Help & Advice sections, like Education & Careers)

@OP: Most of the time yes. It's only not when the ban is appealed

Age has nothing to do with being a moderator. Good Knowledge of the rules, maturity and being helpful and a good poster is some of the qualities of being considered as a moderator.
