Vt allows you to have usernames for like Skype and men and other types of messengers in your contact info on your profile and in signatures but why not Kik it's not really social networking its basically like Skype for the most part without video???

Kik is not like skype really - it's texting, and it honestly can be quite inappropriate, even more so than skype. It's like asking us to add snapchat - it won't happen. Adding to that, It's also basically like texting someone, which we can't condone on Virtual Teen; much different than instant messaging someone.

All of the contact info options that VT allows are instant messaging options, and I can't imagine us adding non instant messaging ones, especially kik.

This might be a dumb question but what's the different between instant messaging and texting??

An Instant Messaging service is typically based off of your computer. Exmaples include AIM, Yahoo Messenger, Facebook Messenger, MSN (Windows Live Messenger), Skype, or ICQ.

Texting is based off of your phone and include services such as Kik, Whatsapp, or your general texting services from your provider.

Texting is a lot harder to monitor as well and if a user needed to report someone for approaching them with malicious intent, it's not as easy to prove it from their phone whereas if it occurred in a Skype IM the victim could simply take a screenshot and send it to a staff member.
