"this message is moderated"?

hey please can you explain when I post a vm on a friends page it comes up with "this message is moderated"? does it mean it must be past by a mod before its sent? and whats the point of it, pms arent moderated?

Visitor Messages are moderated for your first 350 (Please correct me if I am wrong) and three months.

You haven't been a member for three months yet, so your messages need to be approved by a Mod before the other person will see them

From the FAQ:

Requirements to send visitor messages You must have above 250 posts and have been a member here for 3 months in order to use the visitor messages system without moderators approving each message you send. If you are on a restricted account or an administrator has set it so due to you abusing the system in the past, you may have your visitor messages on moderation even if you meet these guidelines

So once July 10th comes around you won't need to have the approved anymore.

The reason for this is mainly to detect people who use the VM system for inappropriate things, in which they shouldn't. This is for everyone, not just yourself. And as for your why? Because there's a 100 post requirement to send PMs, where as there is none for sending VMs, so you can just join and try and do inappropriate things with people via the VM system.

PMs can be moderated actually without notification. Admins are able to see PMs on this website and can go through an entire users history that's saved on the server.

This is true. HOWEVER, I can assure you that ImCoolBeans (or any person promoted to admin) will NOT go looking through your PMs unless they have a reason (suspicious activity, etc). As in they won't just go looking through for their entertainment.
