I've never, EVER cut this deep before. Its 1/2 inch deep and about 3/4 wide. I know this stupid to ask but I really don't want to be driven to the hospital especially today. I didn't even notice it was deep like that until I saw the blood and how deep the razor was.
Sorry if this is triggering for anyone.

By the sounds of it, that would require stitches to be on the safe side as well as prevent a major infection or bad scarring. I know no one wants to have to go to the hospital but your health is more important than any reason to avoid the hospital.

Yeah, I think you should go to the hospital.

Thanks. I took my bandages off to go in the shower and the bleeding has slowed majorly to almost stopping and I just barely missed a large vein in my thigh.

Did you end up going to the hospital? If not how do you know if you missed a large vein, well anyway you re pretty lucky cuz you couldve bled out especually if you hit an artery not just that youll run the risks of infection, poisoning, even thrombisis

I didn't go, call me stupid because I know that decision was. I know I missed a large vein because I could see it(sorry about the goriness). I know it can get infected but right now at least its clean and has a large bandaid covering it and the area around it.

Well if you dont have the bottle of peroxide or rubbing alcohol you could squeeze pad into the wound

I sound really blatant here sorry in advance but you use a razor to cut yourself the pain overall should be less

May surprise you but cutting would hurt less. Doing that cut felt amazing and so freeing so it didn't really hurt. I was more afraid to get water on it when I took my shower earlier than I am of cutting.

Stitches would of been the best option, but its probably a little late for that. The best thing you can do now is keep it clean and covered. If you are afraid of rubbing alcohol or peroxide hurting too much try to find iodine based antiseptic, from experience they don't hurt as much.

Stitches were what I should have gotten but I didn't for a reason(not to die). I have no feeling in the cut or in some areas around it so I wouldn't even feel the alcohol in it. Thanks

Well, I'm by no means saying you shouldn't still go to the doctor and this isn't in any way shape or form to be portrayed as me giving you medical advice, as I don't have the credentials nor knowledge to do that. ;)
HOWEVER, I did find this (http://www.mothering.com/community/t/1192807/any-pointers-on-healing-a-deep-cut-at-home) while searching for at home care for deep lacerations. The main thing is to keep it clean and infection-free. I would use hydrogen peroxide for it , but that is ultimately to clean out debris that could have gotten into it. Also, Neosporin. Iodine is suggested in that link, and I've seen it at drug stores, so that wouldn't hurt to try. Remember not to keep it covered 24/7 as damp, restricted places encourage bacteria growth. I would use a gauze, and change it out every so often. Use anti-bacterial soap in the shower and watch for signs of infection. Just take it really easy and if you need to, tell your parents. Your health is more important than anything else. I really hope it heals healthily.

Also, guys, it's not recommended to use rubbing alcohol as a disinfectant. Rubbing alcohol effectively sterilises materials (like metal in blades and jewelry and the like) but can actually cause more damage to the surrounding tissue of cuts. While it will dry out the wound and effectively kill most bacteria, it will also dry out the surrounding tissue and make it harder to heal and more likely to scar badly.

I'm pretty sure hydrogen peroxide is the better alternative? Someone may want to confirm that though.

Iodine hurts a LOT when applied to cuts. stick with peroxide. also, when you bandage it up, keep the cut pushed together. It will heal faster then a seperated wound

How is it now? Is it swelling?

Peroxide is the better choice indeed,

No swelling. Its healing, slowly, but it is. Sadly my uncles dog kept scratching it open yesterday to some of where it was starting to close was scratched away(she did it through my jeans)
