For single songs I use Bearshare Lite, the old version that actually lets you play the songs on iTunes. And for albums and such I use Warez sites

I don't think downloading music free of the internet is illegal (though on certain sites it technically is b/c of how the sites acquired the music). But anyways, I think that its illegal to acquire a song for free and then attempt to sell it for money, b/c then you're cheating the band/singer out of profits, though by getting the song for free you're technically cheating the band/singer out of profits anyway. (I read an article on vh1.com [I think it was vh1], about how there could be much less bands and singers in the future b/c cds aren't selling as well and most people get their music for free off the internet, thus they're losing shitloads of money, thus the music business won't be as profitable in the future as it is right now/has been) < Its tough to predict the future though, unless you have a magical crystal ball. 0.o

Do you have a router? If so you'll need to open some ports.

It is illegal. Distributing copyrighted material is worst than just downloading it but it is stealing and copyright infringement.
As far as less profits for artists, God forbid they won't be able to buy a Hummer for every color of the rainbow and instead of having 5 houses they'll only have 3.
