Culture these days, honestly I can't give you an answer. I would presume for people to know what they are attracted to..

Its an age old question. However, I think most people who wish to label themselves want to know as it would make their life choices simpler and to get a better understanding of themselves and their identity.

It's human nature to label things. Even though yes at our age we're still learning and can change

Life would be better without labels (on people, not food or clothes), but the reason we have them is identification. It helps everyone else supposedly understand you better.

1. It's easier to understand to others. Without the label, we'd be stuck with people asking us questions 24/7.
2. It's easier to understand to ourselves. It's easier to sort out confusion with labels, and to identify with one.

I think labels are because people are trying to understand themselves and know where they stand, as others have said.

Good points about the label quandary and I personally hate them unless it appears to that person what they believe their identity is. If one feels comfortable to classify themselves as Bi -- so be it. We don't know everyone's story so we'd be fools to diagnose one with a certain label. I can agree with the comment about our bodies maturing and not knowing for sure what our identity may be. Yet -- I'm certain I'm bi and will be bi 40 years from now.
