Alright to spread away from the usual are you sexually active thread. I decided to talk about acne, because well I got enough to go around....Yeah anyway along with it then. I have acne on my chin, upper lip, cheeks, nose, and shoulders.

Now what is a good way of preventing acne so you get less or even no break outs.

As well how can I get rid of all these acne scars on my shoulders and face.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated. :)

I don't believe there's a way to get rid of the scars from acne, as scars are permanent. I don't have as much acne as I used too, but I get some every so often.

I use a product called Oxy, which is an acne cleansing pad. I use it twice a day and it keeps my face clear 99% of the time.

I'm a afraid I won't be able to help you since I rarely rarely get acnes and if I do have one, it doesn't surface or not visible.

I have bad acne.
I would consult your doctor and they can recommend products and if needed perscribed something. They may also send you to a dermatologist, where they can perscribed, products, and give advise.

I suggest Accutane. It's a prescription medication prescribed by a dermatologist. There are also scar removers.

EDIT: Accutane should only be taken if nothing else works for you. It has very annoying side effects that I forgot to mention. Sorry. :whoops:

What mine does is it kills all the surface skin cells. This leads to dry skin. I forgot to mention that key factor.

Accutane is a last resort for acne. Don't take it unless everything else has failed. It has potentially serious side effects, so if something milder can treat your acne, you should use it and not accutane.

I have really bad acne, and have tried almost everything to get rid of it. Every cleanser I tried had no effect. My doctor gave me different topical treatments, which made it slightly better, but not much. I also took three different antibiotics, none of which worked well. I started accutane a few days ago, so it's too early to tell if it will work, but apparently it works for most people.

That being said, accutane isn't fun. It dries out your whole body. Also, since it can cause liver damage, you need monthly blood tests to make sure your liver is working properly.

TL;DR accutane is very potent and should only be used if all other acne treatments have failed.

I have acne only in my body I mean back and shoulders etc but practically none in my face. Idk why. Maybe it's better not to have it visible in face but if there will be scars it's not nice even in shoulders. I guess there is nothing much to do about the scars. You can just use treatments for acne but not scras once they appear.

i just wash my face once a day in the morning with soap and water in the morning, and rinse with water at night... its weird i have never really had a big problem with acne, yet since ive hit puberty ive always had at least a pimple or two somewhere, just not a real outbreak. actually the worst my acne ever got was on my chest when i started getting hair.

Acne occurs when the pours are clogged. look at the kind of soap etc that you use, sometimes a change is all you need. Also scrubbing the skin more can help. Get a loufa sponge or a sponge glove and be a bit rougher with those when washing. Get the pours clean!

Start by drinking more water (not too much! haha). Also I do this thing where I put an old (clean) shirt on my pillow cover and change it every day, I think it helps.

I had really bad acne for a while, tried so many creams and eventually found something that works:
You need to get a bottle of liquid, pure tea tree oil (easy to find), a bottle of liquid, pure calendula (harder to find) like this: http://www.amazon.com/Herb-Pharm-Cal...endula+extract
(the tea tree oil is the same sort of substance, same sort of bottle, DO NOT get the oil).

Then wash your face normally, then put a hot wash cloth over it to open your pores. Put 4 drops of calendula in the lid of the bottle, and 5 drops of tea tree oil, then fill it with water. Put the solution on a pad and rub it over your face. Do it once or twice a day. Sometimes you'll see a white skin forming over your face where you rubbed it. This is fine, I think it's just a reaction I it makes when the two are mixed. I've been doing this for a few months and it works so so well. Good luck!

I got some acne a when I hit puberty. Mostly genetics. What I do is use a cloth and wash my face every night and morning. I take a bath daily, and if I get scars, I use bio-oil. Or purCellin oil.nits fot scars, stretch marks, uneven skin tone, aging skin, and dehydrated skin. I hope this helps.

I would suggest consulting a dermatologist. One thing they might prescribe first is an oral antibiotic within the tetracycline group (Doxycycline, Minocycline, etc.) and they'll probably prescribe a topical medication as well (I used tretinoin gel while I was on Doxycline). This combination seem to show positive results in most people, but the problem is that once you stop taking the antibiotics the acne tends to reemerge. Thus, some individuals turn to Accutane therapy as a last resort. I am currently on Accutane with some pretty bad side effects (panic attacks, anxiety, severe back pain, blurry + dry + bloodshot eyes, etc.). I may have to end my treatment early because of this. Anyway, as another user said above, Accutane is a last resort and you shouldn't even take it into consideration until you've completely tried EVERYTHING else.

There are some OTC treatments available (popular: benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid) which you should be able to find at your local drug store. Some of my favorites are all from AcneFree, so you should check out those skincare products. PanOxyl seems to work very well too, but start at a low strength (2.5% benzoyl peroxide) to avoid any skin irritation.

As for acne scars, if you have hyperpigmentation then you'll want to try hydroquinone, which is intended for skin lightening. It's not used as much anymore because of some concerns I think, I can't remember what these concerns were, but I know there are alternatives for skin lightening out there so you'll want to do some research! If you have more of the severe type of scars then definitely talk with a dermatologist about it. I'll be doing laser resurfacing for my scars, but that's one of the more costly scar treatments out there.

Best of luck :) and I feel like I've typed too much info lol but I love skin care so much!

It's a hellish and noxious substance which should be avoided to the best of your ability. That said, It does a very good job of removing acne (I took it for ear infections, but all acne went too), as well as all the skin from your lips and patches from your face. Nosebleeds are frequent, and it can occasionally cause or advance depression. In very extreme cases, it can lead to psychosis, diabetes or liver problems, among other none-too-pleasant issues. It is, as had been said, an absolute last resort.

If it is persistent acne, and over-the-counter products prove ineffective (try Clearasil ultra if it's available where you are) then a trip to your GP would be wise. In the UK, they would almost certainly prescribe antibiotics first such as oxytetracycline or erythromycin- if these are effective, they are far preferrable to isotretinoin (brand name Roaccutane or Accutane in the US). They may also prescribe creams or gels not available over-the-counter.

In short, try something from the pharmacists first, if after a couple of months no progress is made, consult your GP and/or see a dermatologist. Only accept isotretinoin as an absolute last resort, when you've tried several other things.

Edit: Having reread your original post and seen that your acne is causing scarring, I recommend that you go to a GP or dermatologist first, as off-the-shelf products are likely to be less than effective. It also increases the chance that you will be prescribed isotretinoin (although in the UK this can be prescribed only by a consultant dermatologist), in which case you should probably ignore most of what I wrote, as I assumed mild to moderate acne. Isotretinoin will often quickly treat even serious acne, and while the side effects are annoying, that can be over quickly, preventing further scarring. The acne is often even more irritating.
