He promoted equal rights, shaing, giving food to the poor (acorthing to the book).
So whats your opinion?
Walter Powers

No, equal rights means being rewarded fairly for your work. Communism takes from the hard working and gives to the lazy; I'm not Christian, but I texted my Christian friend about this. He said Jesus would hate the idea of socialism, especially since most socialists want to remove religion from people's lives.

Really? Can you give me an example of a communist state where people were free to practice any religion they wish?

No, the concept of communism wasn't even created yet, and he had no intention of carrying out any of its ideals. He was simply altruistic.

No Jesus wasn't a socialist at all, socialism hadn't even been created. I doubt Jesus wanted to nationalize the industries back then

No. Socialims doesn't refer to your life choices, it's to do with politics. Just because I give someone charity doesn't make me a socialist

No he was religious (Jew to be precise) but his teachings can be understood as socialist.

No they can't.
The foundation of socialism is
''Socialism is an economic system characterised by social ownership of the means of production and co-operative management of the economy. "Social ownership" may refer to cooperative enterprises, common ownership, state ownership, or citizen ownership of equity. There are many varieties of socialism and there is no single definition encapsulating all of them.
Yes or no did Jesus advocate ownership of the the economy?

That's not socialism, I know many devout conservatives who work for charities and hand out food to homeless people, that doesn't make them a socialist.
I don't really give a fuck about christian socialists, religion and politics don't mix, if you want to be a socialist great but I don't see how god comes into it at all when the core of socialism is to do with industry

I personally don't believe he was one, I only think that the ideas of socialism and Christianity do not conflict and are contactable; but I don't think they can really be joined into one, just see no reason why Christians would oppose socialists.

Then why did you post a question about it if you had no doubts at all?

But there is not debate in the question, it's like having a debate if 1+1=2
It's a closed question, it wasn't even about Christianity and socialism, you asked if a figure who was born about 1900 before socialism was one, that's just retarded

That is debatable depends if you are talking in maths, philosophy or biology
1+1=2 (maths)
1+1=1 (philosophy)
1+1=3~5+ (biology)

They done become one physically that's stupid, yes there cells produce a Zygote but the two people still remain. There bodies don't fuse to become one person.
I'm still certain that if 1+1 came up in a maths test you wouldn't write about sex, you must be a troll
I can't be bothered with this anymore, we've established that Jesus wasn't a socialist which refers to the question in the title

Socialism and Communism are not the same things. Geez
Every humane person is a socialist, since he or she would want everybody to be equal, would want to share, would want to help those who are in need of help.

Maybe it's best to view Christ as an altruistic individual and not tie him to any one particular modern day political/economic view. But no, for some people in this thread, we have to have these debates to further some irrelevant cause in the world. Seriously, grow up or shut up about Communism and Socialism.

This debate isn't a reasonable, logical debate. There aren't two sides - just people spouting random facts that may or may not be facts to prove their personal opinions.

Every human is a socialist? That's just nonsense.
Socialism is the most UNFAIR economic system because it doesn't reward success and hard work. Why should a doctor who had to succeed in 10 years of medical school be making the same amount of cash as a fast food cashier? The only people who benefit from a socialist society are the dictators on top. It creates the biggest income inequity possible.
The bottom line is people won't contribute to the economy if they aren't rewarded for doing so or punished for not; this is why socialist societies are so unproductive.
I think you just haven't been exposed to the power of the individual in a true free market system. Have you ever been to the United States, the hearth and origin of modern capitalism?

Exactly.
What he preached had nothing to do with economics, it was just about doing the right thing.
