if you were going to eat something that would make you put on weight, if you cut it up into smaller pieces would that make you not put on the weight?

No, it's the same amount of food, just being put into your mouth in smaller pieces.

It depends if you are still eating the same amount for instance you take some food cut it up and then eat the whole thing as appose to just eating without cutting it up, you're consuming the same amount of food.

When you eat your meals, eat at a slower rate and in smaller mouthfuls. This will mean that you will get fuller and eat less than if you scoff your food quickly.
