Um, it depends on how you define virginity. The concept of virginity is one that society created; it's intangible and extremely subjective. Some people define virginity with the "breaking" of the hymen, which isn't even true, but the most common definition - and the one the dictionary just told me - is that virginity only applies to sexual intercourse. By that definition, it's not possible to take your own virginity. You can't even break your own hymen, because the hymen isn't broken and it never goes away.

Not sure about breaking your hymen, but I put fingers in. I haven't felt any pain or anything. I think if you take it slow, it stretches. I have read it only hurts if you go to fast.

If things were way different -- I'd prefer that a doctor had the ability to break or tear my hymen because I gather it'd be easier -- cleaner -- and perhaps safer for them to do it. If one attempts to do it themselves -- they need to be prepared for pain -- bleeding -- and possible infection. If the hymen could stay intact until virginity [tampons -- being athletic -- bike or horse riding -- masturbation [typically with toy] -- and accidents down there can break or tear hymen prior to sex] -- I'd say leave it be until you find that special guy to share that precious first time with. But -- since sex seems to be less precious than it was for my parents -- I think a hookup for your first time may freak out if your hymen got torn. Yet -- I think if you're in love with him -- he may think you're lying if your hymen doesn't tear or break.

Hi, well if you are defining the verginity as breaking the hymen then I think you'll see form responses that there are a lot of people on this site that "Broke" their hymen themselves through masterbation of some kind. I honestly don't think this is as uncommon as you are thinking it is. Also you can't really "Break" the hymen it either tears or stretches. So if you do use a finger or a toy you can much better control how forceful this process is. I mean you don't have to just shove it in as hard and as deep as you can. :) So maybe it is actually easier on you then with a boy the first time. I know that I didn't experience any real discomfort the first time I put something into me but I have been horseback riding since age 7. Even now I have to use something pretty large before I feel any real pain from the size if I am aroused enough.

I don't know if I agree with the safer because it is not really that unsafe. But you certainly can have a doctor at a gyno check up do this. It is not a really big deal and I have heard of some girls doing this. I have one friend that has very heavy periods and something about how her hymen was caused a difficulty in the flow? Something, and she also wanted to be using a more absorbent tampon like a super sized one. Anyway the doctor opened her hymen in the office for her. So I am sure this is possible if you really wanted to.

It sure does look like some sort of ring. Just try putting a finger in there and wiggle it. If you're comfortable with that, try to slowly put in a second finger.

I'd say after the 4th finger it's propalby torn.

I have put one finger in my opening but that is all I can take. I spread my legs but can't see my actual hymen to break it. It covers all of your vaginal opening? When you put more than one finger in was the pain really bad? Did you get to see your hymen and get to see it tear on your own? What does it look like when you are stretching and tearing it on your own. I would rather tear it on my own to learn about my own body. What color is a hymen? Different color? How thick is it?

I dont know when I broke mine. I never felt any pain, I guess I just stretched it slowly. I've never had sex, and I still consider myself a virgin.
Technically unless your vagina has been penetrated by a penis [or in few minds a sex toy if done with a female]-- you still are a virgin.

if you're planing on fucking, it really is a good idea to get it out of the way first, everyone I know who still had it intact told me it was a shitty experience. I can't speak from experience though, since I have no plans to ever break mine.

Sure I suppose it could and if you have had your finger in deep then probably it is opened up or it would be uncomfortable to do this.

Losing your virginity is having sex the first time, I don't think that hymen idea is correct since besides masturbating it can also be broken playing sports, horseback riding/biking, wearing a tampon, and some girls are born without one. I broke mine fingering (not on purpose) and I consider myself a virgin cause I haven't had sex.

I don't think you can take your own virginity even if you use a dildo it's just consider masturbation even if you break your own hymen. you actually need a penis that can have an erection wether it be from a human or non human for it to be consider losing your virginity.

Well, breaking your hymen and losing your virginity are two different things. Breaking your hymen can happen with sex or even using toys or fingers. Losing your virginity is when you have sex for the first time.
