Unable to detect hard drives when booted from USB??

Hey guys, i'm trying to reinstall kubuntu on my computer but I can't seem to boot from USB and have the internal hard drive and my CD drives don't work. is there any other way i can install my operating system?

I'll be getting a new laptop in a few months (YAY! :D) so i won't have to deal with the issues my current PC is giving me, but reinstalling the operating system has become top priority with my current PC, i'm having issues with the current installation of linux since I installed the new desktop environment and its just gone downhill.

I've fixed the issue, it finally decided to detect the hard drive while booted from my flashdrive. :)
