I'm probably not the only one, but I'm probably one of few:what:. I've never had a summer job. I have no idea how you people with summer jobs get them? So, the obvious question:), how do you who have a summer job, get one???

I'm currently in high school so I don't really have to get a job, and, to be honest, I don't want.
When I'm going to college I will probably get a job which I specialize in, that way, I will get experience when I'm going to apply to a real job. I strongly recommend this.
If you work at a bar/restaurant or whatever you will earn money, but not experience, and so, you won't be able to apply to certain work places.

I have a part time job in a local tailors, measuring men's and women's chests, waists, and arms for the jackets. Its pretty easy and i meet alot of interesting people plus its only on weekends that i do it. Its definatly not what i want to do for the rest of my life though.
its pretty easy to get a part time job, i just gave them my CV and they interviewed me and said that i had got the job.

Where I live, you have to be 16 to get a real job, like a bagboy/baggirl at Kroger or a Wendy's worker. At this point, since your profile says you're age fifteen, you can be your own boss.
You can walk around your neighborhood asking to mow lawns if you're into that or you can ask people with kids if they need them to be babysat. Those are only two examples, but at your age you're going to have to go in that range.

Hello,
Summer jobs are a great way to get experience, not really about just earning money, but that you will get experience about the real life world and the concept of responsibility. If you get a job at a restaurant it does not mean that you will stay in that profession the rest of your life, you will just develop skills that you will need later on. In fact if you ask a successful Manager or professional you will most likely find that their first job was as a waitress/waiter. You also need to take into account that all States have different regulations about jobs for teens, check out the site below it has some great information, jobsforteenagersguide(dot)com

I've never had one either, don't worry. My mom keeps complaining about that...people apparently don't want to hire me because I can't talk. Or is it because of how I look? I don't know..:/

How will you not get experience?
You get the experience of what it's like to actually work for money. The field or ''specialization'' is just a bonus.
Maybe you haven't thought about it but when you go to college, depending on what career you choose to pursue competition for jobs related to said field can be very harsh and employers will also take in account wether you have any work experience on any field or not.
@ OP
Either get one through family/friends. Or do what normal people do... Check out advertisement sites or employer sites (not sure if there's a better word for it in English) and start searching and sending your applications.

I've never had one, or really want one, but I do volunteer all summer. It's more rewarding. :D

Hello, I have been trying to get a job for the past week or so. What you can do is this,
Apply to all of your local Burger Kings, McDonalds, Tim Hortons, Dunkin Donuts, gas stations, etc. After you submit an application you should call them to follow up on it. From there I am not sure what seeing as the gas station that actually answered about following up on it just said they would let the manager know and they still haven't called back.
McDonalds and Burger King you can apply online, but I think it might be more helpful to apply in person. I applied online a week and a half ago and have still not heard back from them. Good luck and hope we get jobs :D

I'm in high school, I'm not really getting a REAL job to get paid for but I've been getting TONS of Volunteering Jobs with Non-Profits for my High School Community Service hours. Even though I'm not getting paid, I sort of like it. This week I'm going to my Church for the Vacation Bible School for little kids, I'm gonna be helping them in some way. I like helping people, and children. Then my other Volunteering I have is, I work in the Dining Hall for a Camp in my town, it's for physically/mental disabled people and I set tables and get anything the counselors may ask for, and I clean the tables at the end of Breakfast or Lunch. (Only there 2 meals) My 3rd job is to help in my church with a food pantry, handing out food to people who need it. I really like these Volunteering Jobs, I feel like I'm helping people with their lives :)

My summer job this year is working at a beach. I'm a manager at a Jetski Rental place and I love it. Outdoors everyday. Free Jetski rides and parasailing, and pontoon boats and tons of others. Ohh...did I mention there's girls everywhere and I get paid awesome? It's an awesome place! My boss wants to sell and is thinking about doing a loan do me to buy the business and I'm 18 years old. Who can say that?
You just have to look around for what's available. You might not like what you have to do, but hey, it's money.
