How long can chlamydia treatment be put off with little damage.

I had un-protected sex a year ago (long story please don't make me explain)

I do not want to get tested yet but i know i have to.

My councilor said its up to me and she will go with me if i want.

after a night of freak outs i decided i will wait 2 months and after those two months to process this and then i will get tested.

will the damage all ready been done.

If you contracted it a year ago you would have had symptoms by now.

This is generally true. If I'm not mistaken, for chlamydia, you might not get symptoms, however, if you do, you will see them within a month. So it's unlikely that you have it if you haven't had symptoms, however it is not impossible.

Think of it this way - what do you gain by waiting? You either get sicker if you have it, or you spend the time thinking 'what if..' and if you get tested and see you don't have it, then you have nothing to worry about anymore, and the relief of knowing you don't will settle in. If you hold off and you do have it, better to start treatment sooner rather than later.

Good luck. :)

Not being reviolated

You should have experienced some sort of symptom within 1-3 weeks of contact.

Chlamydia symptoms in men

Small amounts of clear or cloudy discharge from the tip of the penis
Painful urination
Burning and itching around the opening of the penis
Pain and swelling around the testicles

If you choose to wait longer, here's what could happen:

For men. Chlamydia can cause a condition called nongonococcal urethritis (NGU) -- an infection of the urethra (the tube by which men and women pass urine), epididymitis -- an infection of the epididymis (the tube that carries sperm away from the testes), or proctitis -- an inflammation of the rectum.

Nothing good will come out of waiting, especially something as serious as an STD.

If you want to have kids one day, then it is best that you're checked out because you don't want to be in a situation where you end up being sterile. There is no way anyone can tell you what kind of damage you will have because everyone reacts differently to infections. Especially with your counselor willing to go with you to the clinic/doctor, then I think you have nothing to loose and everything to gain to get tested. At least you'll have someone with you if the news is not good. The sooner you get treated, then the greater the likelihood of you beating the infection.

You see the problem here is that promising yourself youll do it later regardless of giving yourself a set time will just make you want to push it further back, I recommend that you should just go and check it out, dont even think about what you re doing just tell your counselor that youre ready and head out, the sooner you get this checked out the sooner this stress will go,
