My mum knows how much I love swimming, so she's decided to buy us both new swim suits. She knows I've cut, But just my one arm. She hasn't seen my other arm and thighs which are much worse. I can't tell her I won't go cuz she'll know something's up, and I can't tell her about the other cuts. Can I put make-up or something on them? I'm so stuck right now...

Erm, not 100% sure on the makeup..... Maybe try and tell her since she kind of knows you cut? Sorry just trying to help you out here, not sure what to do..

I know it would be easiest to tell her, but I promised I wouldn't do it again. I just can't watch her break down again...

I know it's hard not wanting to see her breakdown, but hiding these kinds of things will do more harm than good. She'll find out sooner or later anyways if it's as bad as you say it is, you need to tell her so you can both work together on finding a possible solution. You also need to explain to her you can't just promise not to do it and the pain just magically goes away, there's underlying reasons to your self harm (you don't just do it for fun),and it's a hard habit to break. I'm sure if you explained these things to her it would help at least ease her heartache a little at this point so she doesn't feel betrayed due to the broken promise.

It's possible makeup could work, but it's unlikely, even if it is waterproof. Your best bet is really just to tell her, as others have said. It's better that you tell her than she finds out, and lying about it won't get you anywhere. It might hurt to see her breakdown, but better it be from finding out from you than herself, as I said.
I know it's so hard, but it's an important thing to do. Good luck <3
