Actor Henry Cavill is the latest British star to take on the role of a Hollywood superhero, playing Superman in Zack Snyder's blockbuster Man of Steel.

However speaking to BBC Breakfast's Louise Minchin, the 30-year-old star described being teased about his weight as a schoolboy.

He and co-star Amy Adams also explained the decision to ditch Superman's red underpants.

A large majority of people were bullied as children. This isn't news, as insensitive I think I'm sounding.

I think it's just surprising because when we imagine Superman, we think of a buff, sociable man, not a fat, bullied child.
