I really like this girl at school, and at the moment we are just friends. We have broken the touch barrier (we hug lots). I want to take it further but don't know how to without looking like an idiot.

Ok so my advise is find out exactly how she feels about you. If she likes you awesome but if she only likes you as a friend then you have to respect that. But find out in a quite way not just hey do you like me..maybe play truth or dare or ask a friend. But before you go and make a big move find out how she feels. There is no sense loosing a friend over something like that.

or you can actually ask her directly instead of going through all that trouble. Or ask one of her friends if she likes you or whatever
