I got invited to a double sweet 16 by my friends Conley and Brenna. The thing is, I don't know what any of them would want for gifts. I know Brenna likes British bands from the '60s-'80s but I'm afraid I'll get something she already has. I don't know much about Conley's tastes, however I know she loves lacrosse and volleyball. I don't know what to get for them and I'm always afraid I'm a bad gift-giver. Can you help me out! Thanks.

Ask them. Always works. I mean, you're a guy, they can't expect you to know things like their clothes size, or stuff like that. I went to my friend's 18th, and, she said she wanted perfume and I was like "Okay, cool". A couple days later, she asked me if I got it yet (It was just before her party), and I lied and said I was going out that afternoon to get it, and she said "Good, because, I want the Kim Kardashian perfume, I can't stand much else". But I had already bought her something completely different, but just as expensive. So, I have learned, girls would much rather you ask them, then you buy something with good intention, then them not liking it.

Talk to someone else who knows them well that may have an idea to what they may like.

Go shopping with them and observe what they're keen on

If personalizing the gift is an option/if you can be bothered, it's always nice :)

Ask them. It's better than giving them something they don't need or want, something that will live in the bottom of their closet forever.

I asked Conley, and she said it wouldn't hurt to go with chocolate of any candy, but that's not a sweet 16 gift.
