PSN will remain free, PSN services will remain free. You only require PS+ to play multiplayer aspects of games. Also you need to buy one subscription of PS+ to play online works with all account on that PS4 system.

Not so bad. Xbox Lice has done this for years, if I'm not mistaken.

Xbox Live is per account. Playstation Plus is per console.
I have no problem with this new subscription change as I'm already use to shelling out $60 a year for an Xbox Live Gold Membership. If anything, I think this is a good move from Sony. Now they are actually obligated to provide quality customer service as they weren't before with a free service.
But of course people will bitch and complain about it.

I'm pretty sure Xbox Live was free at some point probably on 1st Gen Xbox?

My father is going to buy a PS4 for him and he's going to give me his PS3 :)
I could care less about the PS4, the only think I'm really waiting for is Battlefield 4 :D
Also PS3 is going to be free lol

Sony is failing at copying the Xbox's features.

I don't see how this is good. I bought a PS3 and joined the PSN based on the fact that I didn't have to shell out money to Sony for online multiplayer. While I appreciate that the PSN and its services are remaining free, I don't like how online multiplayer is being kept from us. I'm a PS+ member myself, and I fully enjoy the benefits I get, but online multiplayer should be for everyone, not a select few.

FALSE. Xbox LIVE is per household (not just per console) on the XBOX ONE: http://xbox.com/live

I don't have a problem with this because you are getting an instant game collection, free storage, automatic updates, early access to demos/BETAs, free themes and avatars and some other minor content.
In the end you're getting value for money and its not surprising that they having to do it considering they ARE ALLOWING YOU TO TRADE YOUR GAMES IN.
Sony have confirmed that all games will NOT come with a "Online Pass" meaning if you buy a used game you access multiplayer as long as you have a PS+ subscription.

Actually for "free to play titles" and some other developers will actually have a choice in deciding if they want to follow the PS+ online deal. So it isn't going to be for all games.

I have zero idea why you're making such a big deal about this but hey your choice.
Furthermore that says benefits, it doesn't give precise details on what these benefits are. It could be all of them or it could be a few. It remains to be seen.

Ugh. First Xbox One requires constant internet connection and now PS4 requires a subscription for multiplayer? I think I'll stick with my 360 and PS3 for now.

Doing it better by locking payments to system is worse than locking payments to accounts? LOL. Okay.

Smart move by Sony; maximize profits because you know people will buy it, but still provide free services to still look good compared to Microsoft.

I was skeptical about this decision, but I now understand Sony is doing this because they want to play on level field with Microsoft. It's only five dollars a month, so I'm not complaining.

I think it's bullshit.
I understand having a PS+ membership for free/exclusive games, but for MULTIPLAYER? That's pretty stupid.
I also have one question,if you will buy PS+, would you still have access at free games?
Alsooo
Does anyone else think that borrowing/selling/giving a game to someone without any penalty should be normal, rather than a privilege?

I'm not really bothered. Free multiplayer was a big plus of the PS3, but if it means better services then whatever.

Just because you have to pay for it doesn't make it better.

But it does mean they actually have an obligation to the consumer now.

Sure, they have the obligation to provide the service; they don't have the obligation to make it good because that's subjective.

I assume that the money doesn't go into the Sony CEO's pocket... It goes to Sony who can continue to provide great consoles and services such as PSN

This is true. However we do get more if we buy PS+. Like the instant games collection.

Sony has said themselves it will go towards improving the online services of PSN. Paying for multiplayer means we can complain now about ridiculous maintenance and downtimes because we will be paying for the service, Sony won't be able to say "You get it for free though".
Honestly I don't like paying for things like this but if it means a service better than Xbox Live then I'm all for it.

I'll just stick with PC, will always beat consoles. Except OUYA, that's cool.

Its not exactly like you're getting that one feature though when you go for online you're getting free games and more with PS+.
And the long maintenance times probably will carry over, I mean Xbox Live has them sometimes, they generally try and avoid the USA main time and some of Europe but sadly places are hit like the UK.
They are actually quite fair with the maintenance times considering they generally change it up so it isn't always the same people being hit.
