I am sad to report that the oldest man ever has passsed away yesterday. Jiroemon Kimura of Japan was 116 years 54 days old. He was the oldest man ever, the last man to be alive in the 19th century, and the oldest living person. He became the oldest living person on December 17th 2012 when American woman Dina Manfredini died, He became the oldest man ever on December 28th 2012 when he surpassed the life span of the previous oldest man ever (Christian Mortensen who died in 1998) at 115 years 253 days old, and became the last living male of the 19th century when Barbados James Sisnett died on May 23rd 2013 at the age of 113 years 90 days, Mr. Kimura being 116 years, 34 days at the time, then finishing his incredible life span yesterday dieing from natural causes. Other records include him being the oldest living male since April 14th 2011 and having that title for over 2 years, being Japans oldest living person Since December 2nd 2011, having that title well over a year, and being Japans oldest living male since June 19th 2009, having that title for almost 4 years.

I must ask you, are you into extreme ages like that of Mr. Kimura. I couldn't help wondering because you said were sadden too when you first read about him, whether it was from here or somewhere else. If that is the case so am I.
To those who do not know we call these people Supercentenarians (A person who has attained at least the age of a 110). And FYI, Mr. Kimura was a "youngster" compared to the oldest person ever, Jeanne Calment who was 122 years 164 days when she passed away in 1997, and for people like him are consider still young as a supercentenarian compared to her.
Fun Fact. There have been less male supercentenarians then woman, since women tend to live longer then males. And for Mr. Kimura to reach the age of 116 years, is like that of a woman reaching 119 years, which only two have done. Mr. Kimura was an a extreme male outlier being over 4 1/2 years older then any living male on the planet from May 23rd to his death. Know the oldest living male is a "young" 111 year old. It is unlikely that we will have another man reach his age within the next 10 years.
So the conclusion is that he had reached an a amazing milestone to supercentenarian studies since the 119th birthday of Sarah Knauss back in 1999. He was also the first man to become the oldest living person in more then 6 years. So he was indeed a very rare supercentenarian escpecially to men. That is my conclusion.

Imagine 80-100 years from now when our generation will age... Wonder how many 100+ people will exist then? It will literally be a nursing home. *_*

Experts say that a person alive today, well most likely reach there 150th birthday. This is according the the Gerontology Research Group in Los Angeles USA, and other longevity research groups.

I think you mean that they will have the potential to reach their 150th birthday. So far, the country with the highest life expectancy is Monaco, which is almost 90 years old. So it wouldn't be very likely for a large portion of the population of any country to reach 150 yet, I'm sure.

Do you even know the chances of a person who has reached there 100th birthday going on to 110. Its about 1 in a 1000. And judging by there population of less then 50,000 people There MIGHT be only a few people aged 107+, and the deaths of people age 107-109 are more then all of the verified supercentenarians in recorded history. These supercentenarian age's range from 110-122. So this just goes to show how hard it is to reach age 110 (so far). Very few supercentenarians go on to see ages 114-115, and only nine have gone to ages 116+ There is most likely no people there aged 110 years, and almost unreasonable to say that there is a person aged 113+
We will have to wait a minimum of almost 35 years for a person to reach 150 years of age since the oldest living person is 115 years 103 days as of June 16th 2013. For her to reach the age of 150 years is like asking me to run a kilometer in 1 minute, it is almost impossible. She is now among 22 others who have reached this age and kept going, whether it is last a few days after age 115 years 103 days or several years. But know one has even came within 27 years of reaching 150 years since the oldest ever was 122. I think it is safe to say that the next oldest person ever will reach the age of 123-124, but it will take a very long time for the oldest person ever status to build up to 150 years. It is most likely it will take a minimum of 70 years for someone to reach 150, and thats being optimistic. We haven't seen anyone yet from the 21st century even reach 117 years of age yet. The 1990's is considered to be the "golden age for supercentenarians" having a a person for the first time reach the age of 120 years and going on to 122, Having another reach age 119, two reach 117, though only 1 reached 116 , but several others reaching 115. We have had 4 people so far reach 116 and quite a few reach age 115 but they never seem to go to age 117+ so far this century. So I think we better get to age 117+ again, then build up from there. But it will be a very long time before we see someone aged 150 years old.

That's awful, but beautiful all at once. At least he lived a long life, many will never get the pleasure of doing.
