So I had an idea. What if we all see colors in a different way? We would all say the same color names, but what if they looked different for each of us? For instance": what if sniperking saw red as he always does, but his definition of red is really my definition of green?
Sorry sniperking! Lol
But really?? What are your thoughts??

If this were true, it wouldn't really affect anything, so I don't see where a debate comes into play.

I've contemplated this many times before, and not just with colors; what if our perceptions of reality were completely different from one another, in some far reaching part of the brain that we never knew of? Far fetched, and I don't believe it is, but it's an interesting thought nonetheless, and at least somewhat representational of how easily our perceptions differ on social issues as well as tangible reality - or at least, what we might think of as reality. I just read Girl, Interrupted today and it's made me think about reality and perceptions a little differently, so don't mind me.

Like kenoloor said, though, I don't see much room for debate here.

And then someone would get diagnosed for being colorblind, i get what your asking, kinda like fish A asking fish B hows the water then fish B asks, whats water? Because fish B over looked something so common and simple and defined it differently than fish A
buts whats there to debate?

There is no debate! (or spoon, i thought that was clever... you know because the reality of the matrix is only there if you perceive it to be there.. it sorta relates to the topic... OK I'll shut up about that now....)

But i have thought about this before. The problem being is how too prove whether it is that way or no, as we can't "show" somebody else how we view the world. A great you tuber by the name of Vsauce did a video on this: here is the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evQsOFQju08

How about this:

Try to think of a new color, one that absolutely could not be made up of the colors that we know.
( I had an explanation as too why this would be important to this... but im drawing blank now)

Perhaps we see the colors as we see them, but some animals see them differently, like dogs who cannot see the deference between red, green and yellow.

This doesn't seem all that likely to me. We all have basically the same eyes, and similar structures in the brain that process sight, so it seems we should experience sight similarly. The same should apply for all the other senses. Obviously, though, there's no way to test this.

Jack, this is a question that many philosophers debated over ages. Google "qualia" if you want to see something about it. We know that red light for example has a certain lenght of waves but we cannot really capture why do we percieve it as "redness" and these sensations like "redness", "blueness", "sharp", "thick" are qualia.

Yes I suppose it is possible that we perceive the colour itself differently but the definition as a certain wavelength is not. And the impossible thing is to try to define a colour by appearance alone without using any colours.

Exactly. That is why this is impossible to prove.

OMG I have always said this....There would be no way to prove it, but i'm almost sure. BUT, some colours are seen as "light"' (white) and some as "dark" (black).
BUT, here is my awesome all explaining theory:
-There are two types of people. One see all colours as you do, and other the exact opposite. (Light in a dark room looks like a dark spot in a white room, but not for them)

It explains so much, like have you noticed that people often like the (almost) opposite colours of other people?!

The light receptors in our eyes are all made pretty much exactly the same... and the wavelengths of the light are facts, not subjective things. It should be pretty similar.

Unless you're colorblind, it's not possible.

Yes but everyones brain has a different way of prossesing the impulses

Afcors this ocuresm for we are vierd a diferent way. We would all call the bottom light on the traficlight read but everionea perception of that colour would be diferent.
