Actually, I'm going to have to stick out and disagree a little.

It's not illegal to have sex with your cousin in a lot of places. In most states, you can even marry your cousin. The cousin marriage taboo relates a lot to genetic problems that happen when you have child after child with cousin after cousin. But just having a kid with your first cousin is barely more likely to result in genetic problems...but the taboo remains. As long as she isn't like family to you, I can't say outright that it's wrong.

But I think it could be a bad idea. Your family will likely have problems with it. Even if they are eventually understanding, it could be a lot of pressure on them. I know this sounds terrible, especially when you fill in the blanks with something else (20 years ago, you could say the same about a gay relationship). But there are more fish in the sea. And unless you are madly, uncontrollably, exclusively attracted to your cousin, I just wouldn't risk it.
