A couple of weeks ago I noticed an error message that continuously popped up when I shut down my computer. It was a "program not responding" message, saying that a service host (specifically ccsvchst.exe) wasn't responding. So I clicked end now and went on with my life.

Well it got to the point where I started having to do this quite often, so I searched for the svchst on google and it directed me to a norton antivirus forum. The forum said it was an updater issue or some other irrelevant glitch. I uninstalled norton and then reinstalled it.

This worked for about 2 days. Now the error message continues to pop up when i try to shut down my computer. I've also noticed my computer has been lagging a bit which I've never had to deal with in the past, also I got a bsod the other night. I've ran full system scans, ccleaner, everything that I can think of. Nothing seems to be working.

If anyone knows anything / has had this problem before any help is welcome.

svchst.exe hosts the COM+ libraries and Windows Services, if I'm not mistaken(don't worry if that doesn't mean anything to you, it's not too important here). ccsvchst.exe is probably Norton's own version of that, and probably tries to get that as the main one, presumably to monitor all COM+ interactions(ranges from updating the time to maintaining an internet connection).
We all know just how great Norton is, so when it starts using full resource usage(thus defeating the entire point of Windows Services, ironically), you can think of how well your money was used.
You're lucky your computer didn't hang up the moment you killed it, though, some of those services are rather important!

To solve, I heard you need to download a "Norton Removal tool" from their website. Don't install a virus in the process!
And then, install a more practical antivirus.
