my friend claimed to me that shes abused but im not sure whether i should believe her

she usually claims these crazy things
and usually does things for attention- but she said her dad beats her and things, but this time i dont think that she would be that sick to lie like that?

what should i do?

Like the boy who cried wolf, it's often hard to know what's truthful with some people who have a tendency to exaggerate. People who are abused often have some bruise, or when they're telling you they're really upset. And it's a type of upset that seems different than the manufactured type for attention. And yes, some people would actually be so desperate for attention that they'd make up stuff like this.

You might ask her why she's telling you this and what she expects you to do with the info.

Look for scars, bruises, cuts, etc. on her body. Normally, people wouldnt kid about that, but it sounds like she might. But as I said, just check if she has the appearence of an abused person. And find out if her dad is like that. Usually, a nice person wouldnt hit their kids. Alcoholics, drug abusers might.
