Malware removal software

My mom's laptop has malware on it and she would like to know what programs can remove it, what software woul you suggest with it?

AVG Didn't detect it, my mom had to use a different anti-virus to detect it. and she would like to know if AVG can remove it.

Use MalwareBytes that shit will catch pretty much anything :P

I've heard from various people that Microsoft Security Essentials (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/security-essentials-download) works. I decided to give it a shot, and it's a lot less intrusive and bloated than AVG.

Im with the Matrix, Microsoft Security Essentials does a thorough scan and doesn't constantly tell me to upgrade like AVG did.
