How did you get rid of it in the first place? The fact it fluctuates for you leads me to think you don't have clinical depression, which is good. If you feel symptoms of severe depression (physical state affected negatively, suicidal ideations, fatigue, insomnia) consistently every day then you might have clinical depression. In this case, get help immediately. It can be treatable with usually a combination of therapy and medication, though it does take a little longer than moderate/mild depression. The longer you wait the worse it gets, trust me on that.

I was last properly depressed between the ages of 8-12. Then earlier this year I was in mourning, it was bad but not as bad as this.

Can you explain some of the symptoms you're having and how often you have them? Like I said the last thing you want is an untreated state of clinical depression. If your depression was triggered by something then you may have moderate/mild depression but if you feel depressed daily and persistently for various reasons (some of those reasons often go unidentified), you need to seek help. A lot of people forget that depression is not just a state of mind or a sudden mood swing, it's an actual disease with biological factors as well. Like most other diseases it can be curable, but only if you get help.

I'm always tired. I haven't the energy to do things I normally pour myself into.
I'm constantly down, unless I'm with my friends. I feel like there's no point in being here, but I haven't got the energynto kill myself. I've also got less of an appetite.

Fatigue, loss of appetite, and feelings of hopelessness are tell tale signs of major depressive disorder. However you still enjoy being with your friends and you don't seem to have insomnia, major weight loss/gain, or hallucinations so I would classify you with moderate depression. I'm not a doctor though, just someone who has been diagnosed with clinical depression himself. Don't take this as a diagnosis of any kind, just advice. I would still get checked out if I were you, as moderate depression can be treated (and even cured) with the right help and treatment. You seem like a good person, so don't let this shit eat you away.
