Couldn't putting olive oil on your face cause zits since its oil?

from what I've been told Olive oil is supposed to be good for you if you cook with it. I have no idea if putting it on your skin will cause zits

I think if you clean your face properly before putting it on you will be fine. Zits are when dirt gets blocked in are they not?
