View Full Version : Xbox One, The Giant Fail

I've seen many Xbox One threads but I wanted to discuss a specific matter regarding this next gen console.
The topic of "always online" and the sharing of "used" games has been on the topic of many Xbox fans minds.
Well a recent article published by Microsoft has revealed similar things to these rumours.
This is an atricle covering the news:
Microsoft is confirming today that its upcoming Xbox One console will need to connect to the internet every 24 hours for games to work. "Offline gaming is not possible after these prescribed times until you re-establish a connection," says a statement from the software maker. Microsoft explains that Xbox One accounts can be used on other consoles to access digital libraries, but that an hourly internet check will be required in that particular case. Live TV, Blu-ray, and DVD movies will work without a connection check every 24 hours.
PUBLISHERS CAN SET FEES FOR GAME RESALES
On the subject of used games, Microsoft says "game publishers can enable you to trade in your games at participating retailers," and that the company "does not charge a platform fee to retailers, publishers, or consumers for enabling transfer of these games." However, publishers can opt in or out of game resales and are free to set up transfer fees with retailers. Games can also be given to friends via their discs. There are no fees associated with the transfer, but you can only pass them to friends who have been on your Xbox list for at least 30 days and each game can only be transfered once. Loaning or renting games won’t be available at launch, but Microsoft says it's exploring this as a possibility for the future.
Once a game has been purchased via disc or Xbox Live, everyone who uses it on one particular console will get access to the game. Up to ten members of a family can also log in and play from the shared games library on an Xbox One on an entirely different console.
Finally, Microsoft is also addressing some privacy concerns with Kinect. The sensor will only listen to a single voice command when the Xbox One console is turned off, simply "Xbox on." Microsoft says you can also turn this feature off if need be. The software maker says that any conversations in a living room while the Xbox One is on will not be recorded or uploaded.

So basically Microsoft have severely limited trading/loaning games. For example I can't give a game to my friend and say "bring it back in a week". Also if you don't have stable internet connection then you won't be able to play your games. Furthermore if you take your Xbox out to the countryside where you don't have internet access the best you can do is watch TV or watch a dvd on it because the system won't play games as its not been connected to the internet.
I don't know why Xbox has chosen to do this. Its like they don't trust the consumers and want more money for themselves.
All I can say is roll on Monday for the E3 event reveal for Sony's PS4. I'd be somewhat surprised if the PS4 has such limiting trading and connecting abilities that the Xbox One has.
Oh and I find this last part funny. At E3 after the Xbox One stuff is shown there was supposed to be a informal Q&A with fans to ask questions to the development team of Xbox One, this has been cancelled by Microsoft now. lol

Sigh nothing is definate wait until e3 personally I will be getting tbe xbox one as kinect can be turned off and the once every 24 hours thing isn't s bad.
Also Microsoft will be giving a code to those without internet.
And no fees for used games anyone can play games on that xbox and you can give it to a friend for free.
Don't forget 8 new ips and free xbox live gold and a optional platinum service.

The factor is this goes to show the lengths Microsoft have gone to limit gamers in terms of how they handle used games and the fact they want to limit people to buying a new game.

This is bullshit.
Can you read this forum? If so you already have a better internet connection than the new Xbox requires and you are already getting online for far longer than it needs so there is no complaining there.
Yeah you can still let your friend borrow it. In fact is even better because he doesn't even need to borrow the disc. He can just download a copy of the game to his own console.
Also to the guy saying "there's always PC". In case you weren't aware, PC games have blocked used games and required connecting to the internet every now and then for about a decade now. What Microsoft is doing is actually a lot less invasive and a lot more permissive than what the PC has had for a good while. If you don't like it, you must HATE PC gaming.

FUCK Microsoft. I have an Xbox 360 and think it's a whole lot better than the PS3, but I am telling you that I'm going to the PS4. I have grand parents that live in Door County, Wisconsin which is about 45 miles north of Green Bay. There is NO internet connection there! I wouldn't be able to play my Forza Horizon offline... Again, FUCK YOU, MICROSOFT!!! :mad:
The fact that online is free of charge on Playstation is nice in my opinion.

Nyess, okay, but you're assuming that the countryside is somewhere you have internet. Now I don't go out much, but I can assure you that there is no DSL everywhere.
When I've been on vacation to several places, they don't all even offer internet.
Yeah you can still let your friend borrow it. In fact is even better because he doesn't even need to borrow the disc. He can just download a copy of the game to his own console.
So he has to buy it himself, too? And with regard to the ten people, if I'm feeling generous and in a sharing mood, how would I lend it to all 20 of my friends? I thought that wasn't allowed? And the good friend I made last week, can he not borrow my game because he wasn't on my list for the 30 days? And here I am thinking all the rage was "social" gaming, what a laugh!
~~~
And now some musings on the article:
However, publishers can opt in or out of game resales and are free to set up transfer fees with retailers.
So you have to pay to share things? Remember kids, only share if it works out for you!
Games can also be given to friends via their discs. There are no fees associated with the transfer, but you can only pass them to friends who have been on your Xbox list for at least 30 days and each game can only be transfered once.
Oh how useful is that!
Loaning or renting games won’t be available at launch, but Microsoft says it's exploring this as a possibility for the future.
A POSSIBILITY? :lol2:
So they're going to introduce something you can already do on even their own consoles as a new thing? Well I guess that's one way to make money.
Once a game has been purchased via disc or Xbox Live, everyone who uses it on one particular console will get access to the game.
Well at least you don't have to do an iris scan with your delightful kinect yet.
Finally, Microsoft is also addressing some privacy concerns with Kinect. The sensor will only listen to a single voice command when the Xbox One console is turned off, simply "Xbox on." Microsoft says you can also turn this feature off if need be. The software maker says that any conversations in a living room while the Xbox One is on will not be recorded or uploaded.
Very well, but that's not taken under oath. And with all of the NSA things that are happening recently, I'm not so sure I'm ready to trust that yet. It is for this reason I do not have a PlayStation Eye, and tape over my webcam. The microphone can still be turned on(and frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if the NSA is listening), though, but it's one less thing.
Side note: Microsoft may be many things -- evil, greedy, and monopolistic among others -- but they are not stupid. Do not make that mistake. Closing deals with the NSA(come on, we all know it's true) was a genius thing to do, for them anyways. Get your profits easily, as they won't be doing it for free. No no, if the NSA had demanded it be free, then this would have been brought to light much earlier.
As they say on signs here, Your tax dollars at work!
The privacy issue: Do you use google services or software? If you do you shouldn't be worried about your privacy being invaded by a mega corporation: your information is already being collected without your consent and sold to third parties on a daily basis, so stop pretending you care about privacy now.
Some people don't have internet, that wasn't my point, my point was how the people complaining about it are full of crap because they are doing so online. If you can go online and read those news you have nothing to complain about.
If you are "feeling generous" you wouldn't be able to let 20 friends borrow the same game at the same time so that's bull too (and I highly doubt you would) but you still could. On one hand, if you go to their place, simply logging in to your account will let them play.
Microsoft has said the same thing as Sony: publishers choose whether they want to use anti-used games DRM or not, so stop going at Microsoft's throat for this. Not only is sony doing it too, they both are just doing it at the publisher's (mostly EA's) request and it will be up to publishehrs to do it or not (they will be the ones to blame).
It is very clear to me you are one of the anti-Microsoft morons from what you said or haven't even heardd of Microsoft business and company policies from the last 10 years, have you been under a rock?
Also I hope you keep your phone off when you aren't using it, your devices offline all the time and you only use software you have coded yourself, including the operating system. You never know when the NSA is listening. Don't forget your tinfoil hat too!
Yeah you can still let your friend borrow it. In fact is even better because he doesn't even need to borrow the disc. He can just download a copy of the game to his own console.
First of all, you can only transfer the game over to his console ONE TIME AND YOU CAN NEVER GET IT BACK.
The disk after it has been installed on your machine is pretty much useless, did you read the article I linked? Many companies do single player games, I shouldn't have to connect once every 24h to get my SINGLE player game to work.
When they come out, I bet you guys will all still buy one, jumping on the bandwagon. As said, the PC has been doing this for awhile now. It's nothing new.
I won't be buying a Xbox One, I'm waiting until the PS4 has its E3 show tomorrow in order to see what the PS4 is brining to the table.
The privacy issue: Do you use google services or software? If you do you shouldn't be worried about your privacy being invaded by a mega corporation: your information is already being collected without your consent and sold to third parties on a daily basis, so stop pretending you care about privacy now.
Well there is a little bit of difference when its a simple home entertainment system.
Some people don't have internet, that wasn't my point, my point was how the people complaining about it are full of crap because they are doing so online. If you can go online and read those news you have nothing to complain about.
Well, what if I decide to go where there is no internet and I can't play my single player games....Again the only reason Microsoft are doing this is to limit the way in which we can trade/or sell used games, again read the article above, its in black and white.
If you are "feeling generous" you wouldn't be able to let 20 friends borrow the same game at the same time so that's bull too (and I highly doubt you would) but you still could. On one hand, if you go to their place, simply logging in to your account will let them play.
Right now, all I have to do is take the game disc to my friends house and put it in his machine and BANG it loads the game and we play.....why did microsoft change this? To limit people from sharing games and so we have to either buy new or transfer a game off of our system (meaning we can't play it) and putting it onto someone else's.
Microsoft has said the same thing as Sony: publishers choose whether they want to use anti-used games DRM or not, so stop going at Microsoft's throat for this. Not only is sony doing it too, they both are just doing it at the publisher's (mostly EA's) request and it will be up to publishehrs to do it or not (they will be the ones to blame).
Sony have kept quite about a lot of the things that they might do with the PS4 and since it hasn't had its official reveal we can't judge the console on what it may or may not do. So right now we can't really say too much about what Sony is or isn't going to do.
It is very clear to me you are one of the anti-Microsoft morons from what you said or haven't even heardd of Microsoft business and company policies from the last 10 years, have you been under a rock?
I don't know if this was directed at me but I'm not anti Microsoft, I've got windows 8 installed lol
Hey Microsoft, Why dont you explain all of this:
.5. The UI shown on stage was fake and pre-recorded, the real UI is actually Choppy and slow, It can be seen in this video where she actually uses the UI live:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...
1. Forced online activation for all games. If Live servers are down or your internet is offline, you will be unable to activate and thus play your game.
http://www.theverge.com/2013/5...
2. Massive emphasis on TV, services and non game related focus
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...
3. Live TV services available in US only at launch, requires separate device
http://www.vg247.com/2013/05/2...
4. No self publishing for indie devs, which is sad seeing the PS4 and Wii U both allow this, making their platform more open and easy to develop for.
http://www.oxm.co.uk/54746/ind...
5. No headset included, while PS4 comes with one and X360 came with one
http://www.gameinformer.com/b/...
and
http://www.gameinformer.com/b/...
6. Xbox One is not backwards compatible with the 360 games or accessories. Also no plans for future BC, PS4 has Gaikai plans to provide BC in the future.
http://www.theverge.com/2013/5...
7. 8GB DDR3 confirmed instead of 8GB GDDR5. PS4 would be using the 8GB latter putting the XBO at a disadvantage.
http://www.videogamer.com/news...
8. Only 5GB of the 8GB ram will available for games to use.
http://www.examiner.com/articl...
9. Only HDMI for output. Not a huge concern but will shape some people's decision.
http://www.escapistmagazine.co...
10. Kinect required to be plugged in and on for Xbox One to function.
http://www.gameinformer.com/b/...
11. Non-replaceable Hard Drive. Hard Dive wont be able to be upgraded.
http://www.geek.com/games/xbox...
12. Programming Issues on XBox One
http://i.imgur.com/6Xi0c69l.pn... and
http://i.imgur.com/aKRcKab.png
13. Kinect 2 might use visual DRM
http://www.ign.com/articles/20...
14. Microsoft's used game policy is very anti consumer. Lending and borrowing games will not be allowed unless a fee is paid (Fee is full price of game).
Only people allowed to sell used games will be Microsoft's partners. Meaning no Craigslist and no Ebay for games. Publishers will take a cut of used game sales and so will Microsoft, this will raise cost of used games (I would have been okay with publishers getting a cut but Microsoft also getting a cut is plain wrong as they neither created or sold the game)
http://news.cnet.com/8301-1080...
15. PS4 has 50% more raw power than xbox one
In case people havent noticed Microsoft isn't targeting the teenage console gamer anymore, they are targetinga market audience of PARENTS AND FAMILIES, the XBOX One is being marketed as a MULTIMEDIA ENTERTAINMENT system. People need to understand that Microsoft is a corporation and corporations are in it to make money. They will sell more of these XBOX One's to families who are looking for something family friendly because it is 100% video game. I completely understand the arguments against 24 hour connectivity and the used game argument. If you do you shouldn't be worried about your privacy being invaded by a mega corporation: your information is already being collected without your consent and sold to third parties on a daily basis, so stop pretending you care about privacy now.
Only to a certain extent. But Google doesn't require my Android connect every 24 hours.
Some people don't have internet, that wasn't my point, my point was how the people complaining about it are full of crap because they are doing so online. If you can go online and read those news you have nothing to complain about.
Nyess, but you again missed the point. It isn't about what I can or cannot do now, it's about what I want to do when I go to someplace without any internet, and I'd like to play a game there. Won't work very now with the current "features", now will it?
If you are "feeling generous" you wouldn't be able to let 20 friends borrow the same game at the same time so that's bull too (and I highly doubt you would) but you still could. On one hand, if you go to their place, simply logging in to your account will let them play.
Let's ignore the contradiction with the article for a moment.
But what if I want to say, "here Joe, take my copy of Halo and play it while I borrow your copy of Call of Duty"(two arbitrary titles). I don't want to say, "log in with my account with username X and password Y, what's yours?".
It is very clear to me you are one of the anti-Microsoft morons from what you said or haven't even heardd of Microsoft business and company policies from the last 10 years, have you been under a rock?
Part of my job on this forum involves not allowing fights and flames. It's quite obvious that you're trying to start something here(and many other threads, although I've let those slide). I'd hate to have to lock this thread and write out an infraction, but if you continue to insult people(me or any other), I will. And nobody wants that, not even me.
Anyways...
Yes, I am anti-Microsoft. I disagree with their business model, I don't like their products, and I hate how they and nvidia lock me into their continued use. But what I hate more is how you and the other Microsoft fanboys insist that you are right. You will not tolerate others with a different opinion, nor permit them to express it without backlash. Those like myself and several others who do not bow before the mighty altar of Microsoft every afternoon(the analogy is relevant, keep reading) experience your name-calling and condescending tones.
In fact, you bear a shocking resemblance to the Westboro Baptist church, you and your fanboys. We call them bigots.
We call people like you trolls.
Also I hope you keep your phone off when you aren't using it, your devices offline all the time and you only use software you have coded yourself, including the operating system. You never know when the NSA is listening.
Relevant (http://www.reddit.com/r/changemyview/comments/1fv4r6/i_believe_the_government_should_be_allowed_to/caeb3pl?context=3)(alternative (http://fight1984.com/))
And I do like software I've made myself, because it gives you that feeling of pride when using it. I also like that which I have compiled from source myself, because I can grep(something I miss in Windows) and find through it it for any sketchy stuff, or look for out-of-place object files. I enjoy the openSUSE repositories because people routinely monitor that for any malicious things, and will cause a stir on the mailing lists if any is found.
Don't forget your tinfoil hat too!
Ah, the tinfoil hats again! You know, maybe they're not such a bad idea -- would you like one? ;)
They want to implement Anti-Rent/Borrow/Used, 24 hour connection, a silly doodad to be connected although it won't function in most of the things, no prospect for games.
They are standing at everything that created the gaming culture.
Good job alienating a game player like me, Microsoft. Pretty much the only time I would be online with my 360 would be to download an update or purchase a smaller game/addon. I have no desire to keep my game system online all the time. I'm not even going to consider a newer console now.
these companies don't understand that a lot of people don't want 24/7 connectivity with their system...or worse yet, in my case - not much at all. Hey Microsoft, Why dont you explain all of this:
.5. The UI shown on stage was fake and pre-recorded, the real UI is actually Choppy and slow, It can be seen in this video where she actually uses the UI live:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...
1. Forced online activation for all games. If Live servers are down or your internet is offline, you will be unable to activate and thus play your game.
http://www.theverge.com/2013/5...
2. Massive emphasis on TV, services and non game related focus
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...
3. Live TV services available in US only at launch, requires separate device
http://www.vg247.com/2013/05/2...
4. No self publishing for indie devs, which is sad seeing the PS4 and Wii U both allow this, making their platform more open and easy to develop for.
http://www.oxm.co.uk/54746/ind...
5. No headset included, while PS4 comes with one and X360 came with one
http://www.gameinformer.com/b/...
and
http://www.gameinformer.com/b/...
6. Xbox One is not backwards compatible with the 360 games or accessories. Also no plans for future BC, PS4 has Gaikai plans to provide BC in the future.
http://www.theverge.com/2013/5...
7. 8GB DDR3 confirmed instead of 8GB GDDR5. PS4 would be using the 8GB latter putting the XBO at a disadvantage.
http://www.videogamer.com/news...
8. Only 5GB of the 8GB ram will available for games to use.
http://www.examiner.com/articl...
9. Only HDMI for output. Not a huge concern but will shape some people's decision.
http://www.escapistmagazine.co...
10. Kinect required to be plugged in and on for Xbox One to function.
http://www.gameinformer.com/b/...
11. Non-replaceable Hard Drive. Hard Dive wont be able to be upgraded.
http://www.geek.com/games/xbox...
12. Programming Issues on XBox One
http://i.imgur.com/6Xi0c69l.pn... and
http://i.imgur.com/aKRcKab.png
13. Kinect 2 might use visual DRM
http://www.ign.com/articles/20...
14. Microsoft's used game policy is very anti consumer. Lending and borrowing games will not be allowed unless a fee is paid (Fee is full price of game).
Only people allowed to sell used games will be Microsoft's partners. Meaning no Craigslist and no Ebay for games. Publishers will take a cut of used game sales and so will Microsoft, this will raise cost of used games (I would have been okay with publishers getting a cut but Microsoft also getting a cut is plain wrong as they neither created or sold the game)
http://news.cnet.com/8301-1080...
15. PS4 has 50% more raw power than xbox one
http://gamer.blorge.com/2013/0...
1. Same as almost all PC games and all downloadable games on all consoles for the last 7+ years. Why is this a problem all of a sudden?
2. Not true. They promised a game-centric E3 and they delivered. They had an exclusive game lineup on par with Nintendo's and far above Sony's
3. Nothing new there. Was announced and expected.
4. Same as steam. Nintendo and Sony also have their own restrictions about who they allow to publish on their systems. Not anyone can just buy a PS4 or Wii U devkit, make a game and publish it.
5. Kinect has a microphone array far better than any headset I have ever seen. Why would you need a headset?
6. Neither is PS4. Also, Gaikai will NOT work with any games you currently own. You will need to repurchase / rent any PS3 games you wanna play on PS4. Only Wii U offers true backwards compatibility
7. DDR3 and GDDR5 are actually very similar. DDR3 works best on any terrain, is a general purpose memory, while GDDR5 is more expensive, and dedicated to graphics while being not as good for other uses.
8. On the PS4, only 4 GB are for the games. So the X1 has 1 more GB for games? sweet!
9. PS4 only includes HDMI output out of the box as well. Same with the Wii U (The Wii U supports the Wii component and composite cables though. PS4 and X1 will require different cables. X1 is confirmed to support any third-party HDMI to whatever solution)
10. Not required to keep it on. Kinect can be completely disabled. Plus, since it is included, this is a non-issue.
11. Hard drive can be expanded with external hard drives as much as you want. Same goes for Wii U and PS4.
12. PS4 and XBOX ONE are running the same underlying x86 architecture. The X1 has the additional advantage of sharing the Windows 8 kernel so it will actually be easier for devs to develop for.
13. Confirmed as the most stupid and wild rumor ever. Keep your tinfoil hats on kids!
14. Every single time a game is made for a console and sold on that console, the console maker gets a cut. This is nothing new. Microsoft gets a cut if you buy it directly, for third party resellers, they won't / will just charge what they need to keep the system working. Once again, very standard business practice.
15. Not only is there not enough information publicly available to claim that, it is just completely false.
Good job alienating a game player like me, Microsoft. Pretty much the only time I would be online with my 360 would be to download an update or purchase a smaller game/addon. I have no desire to keep my game system online all the time. I'm not even going to consider a newer console now.
My point is that I should not be forced to go online with a gaming system. What if all I want to do with my system online is updates and browse the store (which is what I actually do) manually??
Sarcasm noted, fanboy. You're making an excuse for something that is totally unnecessary in a gaming system. It's not a computer, or phone. I would expect my system to be for the purpose of playing games. The forced connectivity is completely unnecessary for someone like me...who either wants to play a quiet game by myself, or with a few friends I may have over at my house.
I have a television, blu ray player, computer, and a phone already. I don't need anything else to double as one.
Foamy's turn :)
My opinion the the delightful product that is allegedly called the xbox one: WORTHLESS. the cons first.
-It costs $500. Too much already.
-It needs to constantly be connected to the Internet. I don't have Xbox live on my 360 because I don't like...
-paying MORE money for online services.
-The sharing games problem is a very big one.
-the name. I mean, Xbox ONE? "One" is normally meant for , ya know, the FIRST... This should have been named the infinity or the 720 from the start.
The Xbox one is not meant for gamers. It's meant for MONEY. Microsoft fuuuucked up when they designed this. They made it thinking about their greedy bitch-ass corporation and not the consumers that will be lining their pockets with green paper.
Now, the pros:
-Halo
-Halo
-maybe the blu-ray
-everything else is shit.
I will not waste money on this heap of garbage. Microsoft, please take this thing apart and rebuild it before November. That is, if you want people to buy this after Christmas season.
The problem is, nobody wants to make a game for a system they don't know will work. See my post on the OUYA thread.
Valve's "SteamBox" might just work, because there are many successful games made for Steam. They would, however, need to make sure that games can run equally well or better compared to their PC versions. Which means, you guessed it, the need to modify certain aspects of the game code*. Because, let's face it, anybody who is in or has heard stories from the game industry, time is always ticking. And you only have a set amount of time before the game must be sent to QA and ready to be put on the shelves. And not everything can be perfect, so little hacks are introduced here and there. These hacks can be very system- and context-specific, and porting these will require yet more time.
We'll see, though, and the world awaits more information.
* This may not apply to all games, but it probably does for a great many. That is, unless Valve manages to make everything completely compatible. Now while this is open to speculation, such debates are useless for now, as it seems there is not much else known at this point.
So the steambox... You know, steam's DRM requirements are far worse than the XBOX ONE... Internet connection is REQUIRED to activate games, updates are MANDATORY, even for single player games, trading or reselling games is completely FORBIDDEN and letting your friends use your account is also not allowed.
So if you don't like X1 because of the restrictions and you think is gonna fail, how is an even more restrictive system like steam better?
You are aware VT owns a multi quote button, you don't need to triple post lol
PS+ games aren't free. They are rentals. You only have access to them while you are a subscriber. Xbox LIVE's free games are really free. You can keep them even if your membership lapses.
Storage space online? Xbox 360 has had that for far longer and not just for games. If you are an old user you get 25 GB for free and an additional 512 MB for game saves. If you are a new user, you get 7 GB for free and an additional 512 MB for game saves.
Access to demos, betas, and early access to content (earlier than other consoles) is also free on Xbox LIVE, not just for paying customers.
So not just is overall the better service, it also offers a better value. And nobody ever pays full price, a quick trip to eBay or amazon can get you a year of LIVE for $30-$40
Well Sony hasn't confirmed how the PS4 subscription will differ so we might end up being able to keep the games, currently I'm going off of a mix of PS3 Info and PS4 info.
However, even if I don't currently the system works where I get one new game of some kind a month. each and every month and so what if it expires? Chances are I'll re-new it and even if I don't I still get to keep the other content I downloaded. First of all, GDDR5 is at the power of the top computers of today, while DDR3 is 3 years old. Sony and Nintendo also let anyone self publish, albeit with very simple restrictions. The xbox uses 5 GB of it's memory for its OS, while what you said about the PS4's RAM usage is simply not true: nothing has been revealed yet, only rumours.
Look, I wanted to switch to MS this generation because I figured that once again, they would be basically the SAME console. However, with horrible 'business practice' as you call it, they have turned even their own fans against them with terrible decision and marketing. Yes, some exclusives look alright, but they were mostly cinematic trailers anyway. You're most likely an Xbox fan who feels that their system is doing poorly; in times like these you should act like a gamer, and not a fanboy.
The Steambox is a computer, it's estimated price based on similar models being made now are around $1,000, at least double what the next generation consoles will cost. The specs will be about the same as a higher-end gaming computer, so just a fancy processor, graphics card, etc. There's absolutely no point in buying a "console" Steambox for point-and-click strategy games.
I have been an xbox guy for years from ps2...but xbox totally lost millions of people with that online bs and sharing games. The fact they backtracked just shows they were trying to squeeze as much money as they can out of the world...and when they found out it wouldn't work they tried to play it off as "listening to the fans" . Epic fail. Ps4 is gonna get my $400
Oh wait, technically the PS4 is more powerful this time.
:D
Agreed to an extent but if you think about it marketing counts and giving the consumers counts for a lot. Sony is at least giving complete value for money. Xbox recently took away the restrictions but honestly they did that out pre order sales information, not because they felt it was best for the consumers.
I'd disagree, sure I think the Xbox has went all the way away from gaming and treating gamers but the PS4 has struck pretty firmly to the gaming world.
Probably coming from a die hard Playstation fan. How have they went away from gaming and treating gamers when all they do is IMPROVE the experience? Sure Xbox has added lots of user friendly features that aren't necessarily connected to gaming, but that doesn't take away from the gaming.
Well at the time of this thread Xbox had a lot of DMR requirements, check the post date. Since then they've taken them out under the impression that they "cared" about their consumers but quite frankly anyone with a stable head could see that their pre-order sales were falling and that's why they took them out. So they caused a huge uproar with their fans for nothing.
It would have actually more honourable if they stuck with what they intended to do but its all about the bottom dollar with Microsoft.
I liked the concept of the Wii U, I really did but in all honesty there is very few games out and Nintendo just seem to be flip flopping about the place...
Nope. Not to me. 8TH GEN DID THAT. (Unless Nintendo, then DEFINITELY agreed, Wii ruined Nintendo.)
I liked the wii. Gamers themselves ruined gaming. It became all about graphics and specs and FPS. what happened to just fun?
I guess you're a Sony fanboy, by the looks of your name and pictures. Although that article was right some time ago, Microsoft has since long removed those requirements following fan backlash. I've always been with Microsoft, but I'm able to admit that I prefer PlayStation 4 over Xbox One. That doesn't make the latter a fail. It's just not as good as the former.
