Yeah I don't see why not, let the past be the past. Not let it control the future. Plus it's comedy, it's kinda something safe to do. Because its "comedy"

I think it's okay. It takes an otherwise terrifying figure of hate, and turns it into something comical; something that people should laugh at, rather than be afraid of.

My only concern is that we become so used to laughing at things like this, that we take it for granted forget to take them seriously in the future. It's good to have a balance of understanding of the horrible things Hitler and the Nazi's did as well.

If you do not want to be joked,do not joke anybody.

We shouldn't really joke about him. He knew whatt he was doing (even though it was completely evil and wrong), and he was the main cause of the single deadliest war in the history of the world.

It depends on the people you're joking to. I have a friend who's Jewish, and he jokes about Hitler and Arians all the time. And, we can joke about it to him too without him taking offence. On the other hand, my other friend who's Catholic, is extremely offended when people joke about Jesus. It's ok when people don't mind. Other people may take offence at it, and then it is not ok.

In my opinion, the past should be the past, we should remember the past, but we shouldn't let it happen again.

I think as long as it's not racially sensitive its fine. That rap battle poked fun about Hitler, it didn't support what he did, nor did it mention anything controversial and affective to others. It depends on how someone's joking and why they're doing it.

Some people might still be sensitive, but it should pretty much be fine..

I don't think we have a right to decide what is laughable and what is not. Some people have a more morbid sense of humor than others. If they find it funny, let 'em joke it up.

I think its fine! My favourite dance event organizer made this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nbudkVbSGWM last year and it was fucking hilarious!

**11,000,000 6million jews and another 4mil+ POW, Homosexuals and anyone else that Hitler didn't like.

**EDIT: I didn't consider the fact that you could of been referring to the total # of deaths in WW2.

Honestly I don't think it should be joked about. I agree with what Ryhanna said above.

My only concern is that we become so used to laughing at things like this, that we take it for granted forget to take them seriously in the future. It's good to have a balance of understanding of the horrible things Hitler and the Nazi's did as well.

People need to lighten up. The only reason I see against it is because other people obviously don't share my views and they get butthurt about it.

On the other side of the spectrum as Ryan's quote, life is too serious. Just because something is bad, doesn't mean it should be some taboo thing and forever be seen negatively in our heads. That's pointless. I probably wouldn't joke about genocide, but I'd joke about Hitler. It's like we're giving him power over us even when he's dead that way, and that's a stupid thing to do. Laugh at him!

You live, you learn, and you move on. America is really strange (or rather, I notice it MORE here, it's not an exclusively American thing) in that they don't do that. They hold on to all these bad things (and only bad things that happen in America or countries America cares about) and refuse to learn and move on from them. I don't understand how you can carry such a fucking heavy heart if you never move on.

Or maybe yet, I'VE been the ignorant one all this time!

I've never seen anyone seriously joke about genocides or awful deaths in World War 2. Do people actually do that? That's what's sick.

Have you ever watched a cartoon or a movie, where Hitler is portrayed as a bumbling moron who clearly isn't fit for leadership? That's the kind of joking I think is healthy. :)

If you want to laugh about it, do it. If you don't, then don't. It's that simple.

You can't force someone to not make jokes about it, and you can't force someone to laugh at those jokes.

Hitler - Yes
The Holocaust - No

Again, this is called Black Humor. It exists. Trying to stop people from making a Holocaust joke, no matter how grotesque it is, isn't helping anybody. Most of the people who went through the Holocaust are dead, it's not like you're helping preserve any type of memory.

I think it's fine to make fun of stuff that's already happened. People need to lighten up, you can't take everything so seriously. It's all water under the bridge. It's not like we'll forget the horrors of the Holocaust and World War II if we joke about Hitler. We shouldn't dwell on the things that happened decades ago.

Speaking of which, here's another hilarious ERB video. It's probably my all time favorite.

Joking about Hitler isn't joking about genocide. I can make jokes about Hitlers dumb policies, is that racist or something? We should let people joke about what they want to joke about.

As a German I think Hitler is a person you can joke about for sure. He hasn't deserved to be taken serious.
Never hurt his victims, though!

I joke about Hitler and his Nazi party all the time. As a matter of fact, I had a debate last year pertaining to the Nazi party and I was all Nazified and the people in my class laughed about it so no, its not bad to joke about Hitler at all.

Hitler? Deffo. My friends and I used to read Mein Kampf and try to point out all the schizophrenic parts in it. There are a lot.

As for the Holocaust, I once had a client complain about the government asking for thousands of dollars of unduly paid money in social security payments back (he "forgot" to declare some income) by stating that he had survived the Holocaust.

If it's benign enough to attempt to fraud the whole of society using it, I think it's good enough for the butt of a few jokes.

I am from Germany, everytime when I realize someone is making jokes on hitler, nazis or the holocaust and the person actually has no real idea of it, I start to rage, because if you donīt understand on what you are joking, you should not do it.
I have no problem to make jokes on hitler, even if it is black humor

You can only stay caughtup in the past for so long, as long as you do not lightly talk about Hitler in an Anti-Jew way, then it's fine at this point.

However people should be careful when and to whom they make the jokes .
