Okay, so I cut. That's why I'm here, right?
Anyway, obviously because I go to school I have PE. But I have a problem... According to my teachers we're gonna be doing gymnastics in the gym after crimbo... How do I cover my scars? I can't buy arm warmers because I'm a boy and they're not allowed and because the gym is smaller I'll be closer to people and I can't cross my arms forever. How do I hide them? (Asking me to stop cutting is just useless, 1) They'll still be there after crimbo 2) I didn't post this thread about that so I'll just ignore your post)
Please reply quickly!!!!

I had the same problem as you. Mabey you could wear a long sleeve top? It worked for me.

The PE tops are short sleeve =/ I'm thinking of trying to get one of those sleeves you get and wear on your arm when you've hurt it or something and make up a lame excuse about my right arm if anyone sees...

The excuse would only work if you have a small amout of cuts, If they are close together you could wear a wrist sweatband

On my right arm they're towards the left and I have... *counts* 15 or something scars down my forearm so that wouln't work, but they're much less obvious when I fold my arms...

I'm gonna tell my friend today or tomorrow... I hope he takes it well, he's like my only true friend..

Ok I know you don't want to here this but you can't hide scar's forever the only solution to this problem is to stop cutting, its really the only way.

True, but that won't help with the problem at hand. Long-term that will help, but for your next gym class it won't do a thing. ....a bunch of band-aids? I'm clueless... lol

I wouldn't mind so much if they'd been done with a knife but because I use a razor they're all double lines so I can't really say I tripped :S

Well you could blame it on a pet?

Maybe a ace bandage of some sort, you could wrap it over the cuts, but for long term you really should look into talking to someone about your cutting.

listen, as one Sam to another, if i give you a good answer here on how to deal with this will you promise to get some help with your cutting? Tell your folks or tell your guidance counsellor, but get to someone who will help you learn better ways of coping with yourself. Cutting isn't the answer, and as you now see, if causes additional problems, that you certainly don't need.

I never advocate telling untruths, but sometimes the need for privacy outweighs other concerns, what you do to yourself is now an issue between yourself and your doctor, the other kids cannot understand nor can they help. And esp. since you've agreed to get the help you need to stop cutting,(right?) here's what I'd do. I'd tell the other kids I *acccidentally* put my arm thru a plate glass window.

Now, I did my part, you now have a responsibility as a member of the 'Sam' club to follow thru on your part. Tell an adult.

Artist: I don't have a pet
IAMSAM: 1. I just can't talk to a doctor, I shake like a vibrator from nervousness. 2. Most of my scars are horizontal, not vertical.

I definitely understand that. I have trouble talking to anyone, guidance counselor or friend.

I think you should only tell people you are comfortable with telling. If you cant use an excuse you could always go with you first option of covering it up.

where a long sleeve T under your gym shirt thats the same color. In the long run, if you stop cutting your scars will fade out and you wont need to worry

I can't cause we're in the gym... Even if we were on the field it has to be short sleeved otherwise we cant wear it underneath.

This problem is only going to get worse if you don't get help. you can't cover your scar's up forever.
it can be nerve wracking to go to a doctor but you MUST do it I cannot stress that enough, try not to be too nervous doctor's are trained professionals they see this kind of stuff every day there not going to judge you.

A little of both. I'm mostly concerned with what could they think of me? Will they think I'm pathetic for resorting to cutting, or throw sympathy my way, or something like that.

Yes, yes. He's right. As for your gym class, I think we're pretty much stumped I'm sorry to say.

=/ The only solution I can find is Bio-Oil... But that's 9 quid for 60 ml and it's not exactly super fast...

Sam, you should be 'shaking like a vibrator' when you cut yourself. That's what should panic you. Not talking with a trained, caring professional who will treat this problem and make it go away. Eventhough you're nervous, do it anyway. Your fear is irrational, you're afraid of the wrong thing here, and for the wrong reason. Just do this.

Most people in PE aren't going to notice your arms, and if they do, i doubt too many 9(f any) will ask. Any explanation will probably suffice, regardless which direction the cuts go, the plate glass story will work if you say it very cooly and convincingly, as if it's no big deal.

It's rare that everyone here agrees on something, and this is one of those times. Please just tell someone and get the help you need so this dangerous activity isn't a part of your life anymore.

I used to cover mine in makeup. Concealer or foundation first, to even it out, and then powder on top to make it less noticeable. Though I see you're a guy so it's unlikely you have any makeup, though if you've got a mother or sister around, you could borrow some of theirs?

I had the same problem my freshman year of high school.
Either wear multiple sweatbands on each wrist or invest in a body under-armor athletic shirt. It's spandex-like material that regulates the body's temperature during sports.
But I got help. I'd tell you to consider, but it's pointless.

Are your scars faded? If they are, go to a drugstore and buy some foundation thick enough to cover them. If not, maybe change classes? Can you do that?

Jess: Mum doesn't leave her room 'till about 8 and Dad might still be there, but that's what I was thinking...
Kate: We're not allowed to wear anything underneath unless we have to or it doesn't show.
Blank: Nope they're not faded and nope I can't change classes... Thanks for trying anyway, everyone.
