Well Persia historically is considered by many to be the first civilization in the world with a clearly defined legal concept of human rights... Also it stood as the largest empire in the world for may centuries.

I like Persian history and the empire it formed, plus, Prince of Persia is based on this empire and is an amazing game. Also the Hashashins existed in Persia, and that brought us Assassin's Creed.

It's great as long as you don't mind the torturing, having to cover yourself up if your a women, or having to hide your sexuality. You don't see that on the tourist adverts

The orient had such a rich history and an advanced culture. We wouldn't know so many things in many domains if it weren't for oriental philosophers, mathematicians and astrologists.
It's such a shame to see how the countries on the orient have changed now. War all over the places, warlords, poverty and for what?? Religion and economic problems.

I would visit it. I would probably learn a lot more about Persian culture, religion etc. I would like to make a tour around the Middle East. I think such a tour would make me understand Islamic cultures better.
