So yeah exams are done :yeah::yeah: Just saying :P

Really, what I want to ask, if there is any Scottish people about on here and have just done their exams I am interested to see how you found them, particularly the higher maths as most people I know (myself included) did not like that one bit...

OH MY GOD!!!!

That Higher Maths exam was ridiculous!!!!!!!!

Ok - the questions probably weren't as hard as Paper II last year but there were no "standard" questions where you could pick up the easy 6 or 7 marks.

Paper I was pretty standard.

Without boasting - I was considered to be an A candidate by my teacher and I found it pretty much impossible.

All my other highers (English, History, Music and German) were fine. Just need to get my conditions for uni

I'll agree I came out of P1 feeling not bad and walked into P2 and I could feel it just slipping away from me, it was just so unusual, there was dodgy questions and one of them I found needed numbers - and didn't have any! (well, atleast that's the only way I could of seen to do it) and the last one was just crazy I just didn't get it :/

I liked the English paper, the close reading was brilliant, lots of "U" questions which I like :D The essays I was ok with but they could of had questions that worked better for me, but I worked with what I had. And music, it was pretty much your bog standard paper.

Good luck with getting the grades for uni! :)

You must be relieved. I'm in England and finish my exams next week, I'm looking forward to chilling out, but saying that, I probably won't know what to do with myself.

What you guys going on to study? What did you do as A-Levels?

It's an amazing feeling to finish :D I'm the same I didn't know what to do with myself at first but I eventually got back into being sucked into the internet :P

I done all my subjects at higher this year, so next year I am going to do advanced higher physics and Higher computing, then I have two columns where I am basically going to pick a subject I've never done before, I've got the space for it. And then a free period since I'm hoping to of passed maths, failing that back to re-do maths :(

Good luck for the rest of your exams :D

Are you talking A-Levels or GCSE's?

We do a different system in Scotland but basically GCSE is standard grade and A-Level is higher, so I done highers so that is like an A-Level to you (if that makes sense)

Ah right. We have GCSE's and A-Levels at separate tiers which are either Higher and Foundation. So you do your GCSE's (either Higher or Foundation) at high school, the you go on to sixth form and do A-Levels (although I don't think they have tiers- either you Pass or you Fail I believe, ah well- I'll find out soon enough).

Scott, you mentioned the English paper. I'd agree that the close reading was a nice and simple paper and then the essays! OOOOOOHHHHHHH the essays were a gift from God. I might have to reconsider being an atheist after that paper. Both questions fitted my texts to a tee!!!

Next year its AH German, crash H French, H Chemistry and H Business Management - that is if I don't get into Uni which I hope to God I do. I cannot wait to leave school.

Steven - In the Current Scottish system - Standard Grades - we have 3 tiers, Foundation, General, Credit. When we get the certificates through, a number is your grade. 1&2 are Credit, 3&4 are General and 5&6 are Foundation. A grade 7 is a fail.

If that isn't confusing enough, its all changing to what are known as Nationals. National 3 = SG Foundation. National 4 = SG General and National 5 = SG Credit.

Basically its a cost cutting exercise as only National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher have external exams. In effect they are cutting the number of papers needing to be written and printed from 7 to 3. Neatly done. But it's still not clear how this is going to impact on our education

The essays to me were - meh they were ok but not the best in the world, I did what I could with them though, so I hope I done ok - I got the paper taken away from me THREE words from finishing, gutted was an understatement!

Good luck with getting into Uni, if not, apparently 6th year is quite good :P

Nationals - well, what can I say about them.... I think I will just be thankful I have my standard grades, I think they are just crazy!

Ouch! Thats evil!!

We've been told by our headteacher that if we do not follow a full timetable, then we aren't getting back for 6th year, so it isn't gonna be an easy year for me. That's why I'd rather be in uni with a possibility to be qualified and in a job by the time I'm 22. I'm aiming my career at law.

I live in Australia and I only have one mid-year exam this year. It's this week, and because I study from home, I actually have to go to a local school and do the exam with other kids. That'll be... (a nightmare) fun.

Yeah it was so annoying, but I suppose rules are rules, I just hope the maker knows where I was going with the sentence...

We are allowed one free "column" if we do any highers or adv. highers in 6th year, however intermediates are not allowed free periods. Our school seems to be quite nice to the 6th years :yeah:

I'm English and had my last GCSE exam yesterday which was Physics. Went pretty well I think, the marks I'm like 99% sure I got came to about 35 and I'm sure that's a B so fingers crossed! Need a B though because I want to do Psychology A Level and I need a B in Maths and Science for it, I got Bs in Chemistry and Biology and my coursework so a B/A in Physics would be great to make it a definite B! I think if I do get a C or even below that in Physics worst case scenario, I can still do the course because the little bit of Science won't be Physics anyway!
