I'm going on a second date with this girl I really like, and I'm just curious about that this sorta stuff for what may arise, or just for reference.
At what point (after how many dates) should I ask a girl if she wants to be an official "couple"?
At what point should I try to do stuff like holding hands or kissing and whatnot?
Any other advice you've got would help :) (other than obvious stuff like be respectful; duh)

That kind of thing varies for everyone. I mean, some girls think you're theirs after the first date, some girl want to go on a few dates before they make a commitment. Some girls want to go fast, some want to go slow. It all depends on the girl. When it feels right, try it. You should be able to sense how comfortable things are between you, so start small and when the comfort starts to tense, back off a bit. And talking is important. If you go to kiss her and she pulls back, say sorry and ask if its too soon or something. Don't be afraid to ask if something is wrong.
But I've always been told the third date is what seals it. Not sure how much truth there is to it, but I've always heard that and I guess it makes sense. It's like a job interview. First date = application. Second = phone interview. And if you make it through the face to face interview, you're hired :P

I've never been on a real date, so I wouldn't know.
If I had a relationship, I'd prefer it to be a much more relaxed one, where 'dates' weren't required, and we could just hang out or something.

Yeah that's sounds about right.
Though, we were set up with each other (it was a blind date) so I'd imagine that's more of the application, and the employer decided to give me a shot in an interview (the first date) and now I'm showing up for work for the first time.
I'll either be promoted....or fired....
Though that's kinda taking the job interview model a bit far :)

My current boyfriend (we've been dating for almost eight months) held my hand and kissed me on the very first date. So I suppose it really depends on the person you're going on a date with. Second dates usually call for some hand holding though c:
