I use Adobe Photoshop CS6 and I know Danny Photograph used Adobe Lightroom.

Yea, Photoshop is relatively expensive (if you fill out the correct forms, you could get it for as low as [well not low but] $200, or $20 a month). Otherwise, it's 3-4 times that amount.

Lightroom is cheaper, but can do less.

A great, free alternative is GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/).

Also I feel the need to say this.

All of these programs, GIMP included, have a very steep learning curve. So don't give up when things don't look amazing at first. They take time.

I have Photoshop Elements 8.
I don't exactly have the money to fork over for CS6, but I was able to get my Elements 8 for like $15 new on Ebay a few years ago when the newer Elements 9 came out.

I used Paint.net, but I got Photoshop CS2 not too long ago. gonna work on getting something newer.

The mountain one took closer to twenty.
