View Full Version : Went to my grandmother's house today

Alright, so I work for my dad's construction company for a summer job (10$ an hour, if you were wondering), which is mostly manual labor, organization, lower management, ect. ect.

But anyway, part of my job today required me to go to my grandmother's house to prepare the floor to put tiles in. Her floor had recently rotted out due to my grandpa rigging everything in the house (It caused a leak, connecting pipes from the laundry room her built and the kitchen).
Well, I used to go there a lot as a child, played SNES with my grandparents, ect.
I stopped really going over there when my grandpa died. He was crushed to death by his truck while working on it one day.
Needless to say, I got very sad while working over there and talking to her and my uncle that lives with her (He is lazy, and does not work).
Though, my uncle did recently have some drug-related health issues he went to the hospital for, but has recovered now. He's stopped abusing drugs, but now just eats an unhealthy amount.

tl;dr version: Memories making me more depressed than usual.

Edit: Forgot to mention, my grandma has a history of heart problems. In 2008~ she had to go to Minnesota for a risky heart surgery, and was recently hospitalized for other reasons.
Now she's back home, and still sick. Her environment doesn't help much, either.

You sound like you aren't very lucky with your family.

I have a very large family. I probably attend upwards 4 funerals a year.
