How did you know your hymen was gone?

I have heard that your hymen never goes away but some of my friends say that it does? How can you tell and does it hurt really bad or is it a good feeling?

It has to be broken, this can either happened, the first time you have sex, the penis breaks the hymen, causing bleeding. You can try and break it yourself.


It can also be broken by horse back riding I heard.

Most people can wear it away with tampons or by fingering, so for a lot of girls, it won't even hurt the first time you have sex. If you have sex before you finger yourself much or use tampons, it probably will hurt, because it will tear and bleed.

You can check with your doctor and a good time may be when you go to discuss getting on birth control. He or she may even tear it for you. Each person is different because hymens may take time to tear and may not happen right away -- some people don't even have a hymen -- the pain and bleeding can be different based on how it broke [even how intense it was].

As my doctor explained to me, think basically of a piece of cloth with holes in it that you push on to either make one of the holes larger or actually split in two. You can do this slowly over time on your own through masterbation by inserting things inside you. Or as others have said, activities that cause you to do the splits or widely spreading legs and or bouncing while seated can do this also. Hope this helps. :)

Is it possible to see it so I can know I have broken it or stretched it? Anybody ever looked at it to see if it is stretched or broken. What to look for?

So just spreading your legs wide enough can break or stretch it? Can having different size guys inside you tear it more if one is bigger than the other? Have you ever looked at it to see it is torn or stretched more. Wonder if you can actually see it and what to look for?

i think i broke mine during karate when i was younger...i just remember a sharper pain then normal and some blood, but i've read its perfectly possible not be born with one at all.
i assume you see if you have it if you can insert something and feel it all the way at the end without something stopping in the way

If you want to break it yourself, you can try fingering yourself, and if it's still intact, you'll probably be able to feel it. I've heard it described as "a tighter ring" type thing.

I probably broke mine horseback riding, as I've been riding at least 2-4 times per week since I was like, 5. I also may not have broken mine, but I'm not super keen on checking.

It hurt a bit, but the pain went away fast.

Hi Brenda, Did you say you broke your hymen with gymnastics? You said you heard your hymen pop and felt it pop as well? Did you bleed a lot? Did you look and notice a difference inside your vagina after it broke? Could you look and see that your vaginal opening had changed? Did it look different? Do you feel like gymnastics helped you get ready for sex? Did it open you up to where it did not hurt when he put the head of his penis inside of you? Did you bleed your first time having sex? Did the pain go right away? Did it feel good at all once he was all the way inside of you? What is so great about a guy going deep inside of you and penetrating you hard? Is it true what Maria said that after he pulls out your vaginal opening is still open? How open are you talking about?
