So I just got back from a trip to Washington DC. It goes wothout saying that I was exposed to the sun. I'm curious about some of the positive effects that came of this. First of all my face seems to have cleared significantly, even though I didn't use my acne meds the entire time I was there. Three days later its still looking pretty good (back on the meds now). Secondly my hair seems to be a lot softer. Not just on my head, arms, and other places exposed to the sun but also on my armpits (it feels like petting a cat). I haven't gotten this much sun in a few months, is it possible I have (or had) some kind of vitamin d deficiency?

You did help produce more Vitamin D, also the UVB/A rays help clear up your skin a little by upping the temperature on your skin and thus helping your immune system to fight the infections. Yes, zits are actually clogged pores that get a small infection and your body's white cells fight. What you squeeze out is the leftovers of the fight between the foreign bodies (dirt and so) and your immune system.

Absolutely! Many of my family suffer from vitamin D deficiency and are on suppliments, they have all said similar benefits from taking the Vitamin D as you have (Clearer & softer skin). You could ask for a blood test in the coming weeks to see if you do have vitamin D deficiency.
