Okay, can I just say this:
Guys we blooming get it. We don't need labels, yes, but when people come asking they want to figure a label, because in this messed up society we need labels. So don't keep saying "You don't need labels" WE FUGGING GET IT OKAY. We want labels.

Thank you.

Of course, you don't need labels, but people want them anyway. Humanity would rather things be clear and distinctive and black and white; they want to fit into a category and just know who they are. When things aren't so definitive, people get uncomfortable. Wanting a label is completely understandable, if unnecessary.

Not everyone wants labels or doesn't, though. I don't want to generalize.

Yeah but the problem is it's difficult to tell them that label when they give mixed signals or we barely know them.

It's human nature to put labels on things.
Whether or not you want to, you will.

It is fairly natural of humans to want to know everything, and the exact way it is.

Nobody likes labels, but even if you don't use one yourself, everybody else is just going to put one on you anyway. So you might as well use one.

Yes, and when you people come to a community of teenagers on an online forum asking what your sexual orientation is, you should expect to get a clear and definitive answer because WE know you better than YOU know you.

Yes, realistic expectations, Jenny.

I have to agree with Kenoloor -- Aside for what we are told, we don't know much about the person. Certainly not enough to tell them their own sexuality; only they can tell themselves that. I think they can get the idea through reading other threads here or asking questions, but no one can give anyone a definite answer of their sexuality. Also, we should take into account that the majority of threads searching for answers about sexuality are usually very young. Our taste changes through experience and sexual development, so you can see the difficulties there are when a 13 year old is asking others to define his or her sexuality. We don't know. I don't agree with labels, as I think it's putting people in boxes then when they like something outside of that box they feel even more confused. So I honestly don't see the point in labels. I've literally never been asked my sexuality/label besides, like, once. I don't think it makes someone who they are/ defines someone.

i think labels help to know what's on the inside, just like canned food is labeled so they know they are buying peas and not corn.

That's not what I mean. I mean, people just saying "You don't need labels" isn't helping anyone at all. I'm not saying "Give them a label", I'm saying "Don't say you don't need labels".

you need labels just like there is a difference between red and blue. You can't call them the same since they are not the same, however they are still both colours and even though some like red and some like blue we shouldn't judge eachother on it, and treat all colours like colours.

People are meant to be unique and each person is different, but to label people based on sexuality is the best way we have to understand ours and everyone else's feelings.

Sometimes (more and more often, lately) labels can be confining. So you can understand why folks (the more progressive folks in this population) don't feel that labels are inherently necessary.

You probably need to get over your insecurity of being unlabelled and go with the flow.

Just go with the flow dude man bro :hippy:

Sometimes when people ask, or state stuff, it is hard to label someone if for example they say I'm a colour, what colour am I if they don't say any more info

Sometimes it's easier to say "you don't need labels" if someone says "I'm scarlet, but don't call me red", as a way of sympathising. You're right, if someone states something obvious, that's what they are. One of the tricks, is (if someone really wants it), is to say "but if you ad a little blue you can become purple". Sorry of the generic example, but yes agreed, we are what we are, and we can change

You won't change the world with this thread. People will always title someone something.
