With regards to the first part of your post, I think masturbating with friends over the internet could just be considered to be like masturbating with a friend in reality and many people do this so I'd say thats normal.

In the second part it depends what your definition of 'normal' is. During puberty a considerable number of people do masturbate with people that they meet from the internet so it isn't at all 'uncommon'. it is, however, illegal but this does not stop this large number from doing it.
