What does VT see when it comes to our location?

Pretty sure all staff on every forum does unless it's set to where certain tiers of staff can't see it, but normally at least admins and super/global mods can see your IP.

Um, well technically, VT doesn't see anything. Staff can see if they search you, but it's not like we go search users randomly for fun. We don't see locations though, unless we search them on an external IP search site. I'm not really sure why you care though, lol.

Do staff see a list of IP addresses that users have used? Or a recently used IP address list?

We do see a list of all IP addresses.

So all of them that have been used ever?

That is what I said, lol.
Basically, if you use an IP address, we can see it linked to your account.

Can outside sources tell exactly where those addresses are located or do they show an estimate?

We do, in fact. A rather long list, in your case, I might add, although I've seen longer.
On top of that we can see if you registered or posted with a certain IP, what provider it belongs to, etc. Quite interesting.
I don't know what you are hoping to accomplish. If you have a very good reason, we could send you the list. But every website can see this, and many collect far more. If you are concerned about 3rd parties tracking you(e.g. Google Analytics, BlueKai Data Brokers, and a plethora of others (http://www.knowyourelements.com/)), consider a browser plugin such as Ghostery (http://www.ghostery.com/) or Abine's DoNotTrackMe (http://abine.com/dntdetail.php).

I don't know if -exactly- is the right word, but some could theoretically give us an exact location, some don't work as well. I know when I search my IP, a search gets it right most of the times, but not always. It all depends really.

Yeah I always use other people's IP address, never my own, except once.
Wait don't close yet!
Can you see the names of an IP address?
Ok you can close once the question is answered, that's all I needed

Like, if I wanted to name my IP address "Boogly woogly" would you see I'm using the IP address "Boogly woogly"?

Alright I'm not gonna lie boogly woogly was the best word choice you could have used, A+.
But um I don't know I mean an IP address is numbers and I don't think you can change those numbers?? It's fairly random as far as I know. I'm really really sorry if I'm missunderstanding you, haha.

Lol thanks
So you know how when you join a network nearby it has a name? That's what I'm talking about, can you see the name of that network that was used?

Oohhhh I see. Yeah no we can't see that, that has absolutely nothing to do with an IP address. I mean it's just the network name.

You can't choose an IP address. It's just numbers. It can be something like 123.231.213.12, or 187.65.63.62. You can't pick it. Your ISP bought a whole bunch of them and just allocates them to its subscribers(like you) as they need them. On most residential internet packages, there is no guarantee you will get the same one two days in a row.
From an IP address you can get something like netblock-12-34-56-78.dslextreme.com. And that, too, is set by your ISP.

How can I block my IP address from being seen or tracked on an iPad?

You can't? lol It's a fact of life; if you can't handle it, you shouldn't use the internet.
This is kinda straying off from anything VT:HQ related, so if you have no more questions, I'll go ahead and lock this for you? You can always PM a mod and we'll give you a hand.

As Val said, if you can't handle us having access to your ip Address and ISP, then you shouldn't be on the Internet. Other places online (such as google) build a profile of you online, a profile which supposedly knows who you you are and what you like.
You can't change your IP unless you use a proxy every time you go anywhere online, and even then your ISP can still see your Internet history.
I seriously recommend you stop worrying about it, we're really not out to get you.

Unless, of course, you want us to start doing malicious things.
There's a big market for your data. In fact, that is a large portion of Facebook's income: the trading of consumer data. You agreed to that in their (lengthy) ToS, remember?
VirtualTeen is a sensitive place. If we had a malicious agenda, we could sell your info and make big money, since many of us provide sufficient information to connect us to other social media sites. I know I do.
But there's a reason we exist, and that reason is that we are not Answers.com or Yahoo! Answers. You don't go there because you know that it will be used against you there. You came here, in an attempt to sufficiently distinguish your lives.
It's a cold, cruel world on the internet. And there's nothing you can do about it. So if you don't like it, there's little alternative besides departing from the internet altogether.

All staff members can access this list for each member (banned or not) at any time they wish.
Let me tell you something, though. We don't. We don't spend our time looking about your IP Addresses and ISPs.
Why? We have no reason to. Unless we suspect a member of being a fake or duplicate, we won't search your IPs at all.
Unlike many sites, our staff respect your privacy. Like Thomas said, VT is not Google, Facebook, Yahoo, or anything like this. We don't sell anything, in fact, we're nonprofit and do not currently accept donations. We're not looking for money from you, or to make money off of you. We're teens like you are, the only difference is we're moderating the site.

I can assure you that I'm not making any money off of your IP addresses -- if you think I am then you might not know me very well. I don't want to use your information to make money and I don't want to go sifting through your personal data in order to learn things about you. The entire staff were and still are members just like you, and all of our information is stored the same way, whether it's from before we were on staff, during the time and after. Every member who makes a click has that click recorded somewhere by MySQL or whatever host they're using, but that goes for any page of any website you've ever been on. All websites have and store your IP addresses and this site does not do it any differently -- we just don't use your information for anything besides checking for duplicate accounts if somebody is suspected of being one.

Perhaps I should add that even if I wanted to or had time to go look at where you log in from, it is tedious and boring to do so. Even checking if you are a duplicate member takes probably more time than it needs to.
