Romantically Awkward?

In other words, pretty much invisible to girls. Even when i try and start conversations most girls seem bothered by my presence, even the unattractive ones. I'm not sure if its because I'm doing something wrong or maybe it's because they think I'm unattractive? I don't believe I'm hideously ugly and I'm not overweight or anything, but then again women's standards are a complete blur to me so I wouldn't know. Any advice from guys or girls out there? Or I am I simply destined to be a loner forever?
