Hey so yeah I make a lot of movies and turns out macs handle movies better than PC's. I need help finding a Mac laptop UNDER a thousand dollars (meaning even if it's 900 dollars) with either OSX or Leopard. Any operating system would work.

Thanks guys!

Apple is the best place to get one. Getting one anywhere else is a bad idea... Get a mini if you have the peripherals :D There only $600

I don't agree about apple being the best place to buy them. Amazon offers $75-$100 mail-in-rebates in most mac systems. I have bought an iMac G5 and the 13' macbook, and they both arrived in Florida within a week. And you can use that extra money to buy some RAM (apple's is overpriced), maybe ask for a loan from your parents and pay them back with the rebate money. It all really depends on how patient you are.

The macbook costs $1100 but has a $75 mail-in-rebate, so it is just slightly above your budget. It is very portable and sturdy, so you can take it anywhere. The operating system is incredible and ilife '08 has tons of new features. Downside is that leopard still has a few WiFi flaws with this model. Also, it doesn't come with a Superdrive (DVD burner).

The mac mini is a good choice but you have to be aware that the processor is a bit slower than the macbook's. But you'll have all the extra cash for other gear.

Try an Apple Licenced Retailer. They sell Macs at a lower price.

Do you really need to buy a mac just for that? you could upgrade or buy a very high spec computer for that money which will handle the movies just as well or even better.

I bought my mac from macmall.com an authorized retailer that offers wonderful deals especially at this Christmas season. but you will not be able to find a mac/macbook under 1000 the cheapest macbook is like 1200 but it is worth the money.

And when you get one here are a few tips to not sound stupid:
1. Mac OSX is not OS X (the letter) but the Roman Numeral X, read as Mac OS Ten
2. Leopard is Mac OSX, it is just the updated version they updated from Mac OSX Tiger to Mac OSX Leopard Mac OSX as itself really i do not htink exists!
