hey as you know probably know your not allowed to post in threads over 2 months old and if someone does mods lock it, but if the thread automatically locked after 2 months of no new posts, it would get rid of the problem, yes it would be easier if everyone followed the rules but lets be honest especially with new members everyday, its not gonna happen

There are some threads, while bumped, that are kept open because of a moderator's discretion.
An example - The MLB Baseball thread (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/showthread.php?t=169646)
While it was bumped recently from spring training time, it is still very relevant....and I prefer to keep this thread open than lock it and have someone else start the same thread in the next week.

I'll admit that at first glance it sounds like an excellent idea; but in reality, this system could have a lot of holes in it...

maybe a senior staff order could keeo it open? but generally I think it would remove this problem and it does happen often

But since OPs (original posters) can bump their own threads, this would not work. How would you feel if you made a thread and you were looking to post in it after a few months and you couldn't because it's locked? The last two posts in this (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/showthread.php?p=1813749&highlight=lock#post1813749) thread sum this up nicely. Also, it's a little older, but this (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/showthread.php?p=1457466&highlight=lock#post1457466) thread too.

What Val said is correct.
In addition, this really wouldn't affect on users since either way the thread is going to be locked, so it would basically be an add-on only used for staff reasons. If it's an add-on only used by staff and the staff doesn't want it then we probably shouldn't add it :P

I came in here to make this suggestion as I didn't know you couldn't post in things older than 2 months, and later found out after I had (sorry to the person who had to go through and lock them all) but after reading the replies I feel like it would just be an unnecessary obligation to 'auto-lock' posts.
