Does anyone else take this medication? I'm just wondering if anyone else experiences a huge appetite loss, I know it's one of the side effects they listed. I barely experience hunger, and since I've been on it, I've lost at least twenty pounds. I do believe I'm on the generic prescription, but that shouldn't make a difference, right?

I've been on it twice. The first time, I was on it for a few weeks but got them to take me off it because I didn't like the smell (lol) and at that point I did experience some hunger loss, but nothing worth making a big deal out of. I just got put back on it maybe a month (or more) ago, and it kills my appetite so much to the point that I'm eating one meal a day, and I can't eat any snacks or I can't eat a meal, or anything too heavy or I'll get sick.

Is it just me?

No, appetite loss and nausea is common for this drug, but if it's having these effects on you, you should really consult your doctor or psychiatrist about other medication.

I had this side effect with effexor xr, it was HORRIBLE I know the feeling. So its not you, I had to choke down my food to eat it and it wasn't satisfying because I didn't feel the need to eat it.
maybe ask your doctor about getting on the non generic version. it can help a lot.

I don't even have a problem with this, it's amazing. I've been wanting to lose weight for a good long time, I've gown down two sizes in jeans.

I was just wondering if it was just me, or if others had the same thing happening.

(I used to be on Effexor XR as well, but that never happened to me.)

Well, Wellbutrin XR is an SSRI anti depressant, slow release. Regardless if this is a normal side effect or not, and regardless if you like losing the weight, you should still tell your psych about it. Losing weight in a free fall isn't a good thing, who knows when it'll stop. The purpose of the medication is to help you feel better, it's not a weight reduction medication. And, the most important thing is if it's effective at it's primary purpose, to reduce the depression.

I think it's leveled off now, my weight hasn't changed. It's stayed the same for a few weeks now. I'll tell her next time I see her, I don't know when that is, I see her like every three months. And it does help with the depression, I take it along with Trileptol as well.
